Along Van Dyke Avenue, just half way between 14 Mile & 15 Mild Roads, on the west side is a new development
Called BAE Systems, a global Defense Security and Aerospace firm employing 107,000, with 3 additional plants stateside.

Being built on 81 acres the $58.4 M facility  is slated for completion in 2011.
At the completion, this facility will have 600 employees, with 400 recruited and hired  recently who are highly trained engineers.
The Prototype center opened  Wednesday Aug.25th with 40 employees [at the Office center]. Mark L. Pedrazzi, program director for BAE Systems proudly opened the facility to local Sterling Heights Officials.

This facility is slated to have a full-service machine shop with a dozen plus bays for vehicle and subsystem modifications, integration and testing;
along with
laboratories and facilities that will provide electrical assembly fabrication, software development and system integration of vehicle control and crew station electronics.

This  tour highlighted the vehicle " Black Knight" :
that is a bright-yellow, Black-tired & a Black arm that looks as if it comes from a turret.
Welcome  Black Knight.
The BAE Systems enterprise builds military vehicles and this Sterling Heights facility will also support the Bradley Fighting Vehicles, Ground Combat Vehicles, & Bradley  derivatives and others.
All in all, a great addition to the Metro Detroit Area and especially to the Macomb county, MI. area.

Sitting across VanDyke at the "Pantry Restaurant", we have been watching this growth in the area;
Come to the Pantry, enjoy the meals [their Omelets are too Good] , and see Macomb Co. Sterling Heights GROWTH.

Wayne and Joan Webber, through their non-profit Foundation are solely responsible for the needed expansion of the
St. Mary Queen of Creation Food Pantry in New Baltimore, MI.
This food pantry is the second largest in Macomb County, serving 2,483 families since January, 2010. With this new facility, thanks to Wayne and Joan Webber, clients will be able to enter a waiting room rather than, as previously, stand outside.
Rev. Nick Zukowski is grateful to all who have made this improvement take place.  An open house will be held on Sept.11th & 12th after Mass.

Thanks are sent out to local businesses and individuals who have donated to the pantry.
Thank you Wayne & Joan Webber;

The well recognized, often ridiculed, & the most identified police vehicle in fiction, film & the minds of the citizenry,
the Crown Victoria is being RETIRED.
How can they do that;
What will the creative artists of film & print do without the big, dark, dinged-up, well run Crown Victoria--better known as the Crown-Vic.
 The Crown Vic was the vehicle of choice for 70% of Police vehicles.
How the landscape will change;
How will those drivers spot the police now?
How will they dispose of these great cars?
WELL
All is well in the area of new police vehicles:
those ready to walk, 'Drive' the runways are:
...Ford's:                    "Interceeptor"
...2011 dodge Charger: "Pursuit"
...G.M.'s                     "Impala"  [ guys, come-on give us an appropriate name here]

Watch out all you 'scoff-laws', new cars on the road & you may be seen before YOU See.

More Michigan highlights later.
