Real Life in Tomball! aka "The Hometown with a Heart"

Just a short 29 miles Northwest of downtown Houston is a piece of what may be considered American Nostalga.  Think of it as shades of "Leave it to Beaver, Andy of Mayberry and Ozzie and Harriet all rolled into one small town.  Add to the charm the fact that it is an easy drive of every convenience known to modern day man.

This well kept secret became known to me in the early 1980s courtesy of my fledgling Real Estate career.  In addition to care and transporting of three young sons, giving them horseback riding lessons entered the daily mix.  The Horseback riding professionals  were in the process of relocating their training facility to the country from Memorial.  Fortune smiled and suddenly I found myself expanding my market knowledge to the general Tomball area.

We all profited from the experience and quickly we found ourselves in love with the gently rolling terrain, the charm of the small town, tall trees, lower traffic and the heavily wooded, magnificent beauty of the area.

By August of 1982 we were all happy residents.  My sons were involved in the wonderful Tomball school system and all its extra curricular activities.   The teachers in this district were dedicated to doing things exceptionally well.  This included taking the time to call a mom when a child was misbehaving, and caring enough to hand down a punishment that would suit the crime.  Punishment that actually taught a lesson was an art form that helped to mold my three young men into productive members of society.

My parents also made the move to the country and found a small piece of acreage right on the edge of town where they had a stocked pond, and enough room to raise two goats,  some turkeys and chickens.  It was also a place for making memories.  They have both gone to be with the Lord now, but Tomball provided a wonderful opportunity for them to enjoy their sunset years.  There were activities just for Seniors, lots of peers, and outstanding medical facilities.  It also provided a safer place for them to continue getting around on their own.

Just today we saw that is still the case.  On Main street there was a little white car moving more slowly and erratically than most.  As it maneuvered out of the main stream of traffic, we pulled along side and saw that the little old driver could barely see over the steering wheel.  She was safely turning beside HEB.   No one was all that inconvenienced, but in many places there would have been blaring car horns.  People still exercise caring and compassion here.  This is just another nostalgic plus for Tomball.  Sort of makes you wish everyone could have this life style doesn't it.

So if this sort of lifestyle appeals to you just pick up the phone and give us a call.  We'll be happy to acquaint you with this wonderful area.  You will always be glad when you come home to Tomball.
