Is it OK to Text While Having Sex?
In our age of technology it seems almost no one is without a cell phone...
...Kids walking to and from elementary school with them
...more drivers on their cell phones than not - sans hands-held device which is illegal here in CA and other states
...Folks stroll the aisles at the supermarket, chat in the library, walk on the beach and on the side walks, ride their bicycles and skateboards, you get the idea. Folks are not just talking on their phones, but texting everywhere you turn, apparently while having sex, too. More on that tidbit in a moment.
Does Your Cell Phone Go Where No Phone Has Gone Before?
It may be that there is no place a cell phone doesn't go. Well, I haven't seen anyone on a surfboard with one but I may just not be noticing.
You have to wonder...
is it all really necessary?
Has our lifestyle become so dependent on the cell phone that no place is sacrosanct, no time and place verboten? Or is it that we simply allow it to become a habit and never even consider NOT taking our phone or using it. Have we become so used to them that not using them never even occurs to us, no matter the circumstances.
And given the less intrusive nature of texting, perhaps any time and place is OK.
And of course it's big business. You cannot escape ads on the Internet, on the radio, on TV, on billboards about the newest smart phones...the latest apps, the largest collection of ringtones, the newest skins and designer colors. The list of what you can do with your phone seems endless. Mobile technology now mimics our computers more than ever.
It's pretty amazing what we can do with phones these days. One can understand how to be without our phones, for even a short time, causes panic and heart palpitations. But it CAN be done, trust me.
And who hasn't either had a personal experience, or read of one, where a life was saved or some disaster averted because of a cell phone.
I try to limit the places where my cell phone goes and when I use it, and keep working at improving:
- The bath room
- Listing appointments (unless I want to show a seller the way my phone could be used)
- At dinner parties at home or at friends
- At the gym
- When meeting with clients
- In bed
- In church (I don't go very often but when I do)
- In restaurants (OK I have made exceptions for fast food and casual dining places. My bad)
So here's the question...IS it OK to text while having sex?
Survey says 10% of folks under 25 are open to texting while having sex; but even folks older than that were OK with it, about 6% of them. Technology enters the bedroom!!
So, what are YOUR boundaries?
Do you use your phone everywhere and anywhere you go?
Are there times when your phone is off? Or not answered?
