And the summer of '07 bought the plagues:

Came the swarm of 17-year LOCUSTS or cicadas with their beady red eyes, who ate the tender tips of trees and shrubs; then their brethren, the 13-year cicadas, and lo and behold, finally the annual cicadas who found that all the best food had been devoured.

Then came the heat and humidity. 90 degrees with humidity levels almost as high which brought forth THE RAINS.

The rains accompanied by thunder and lightning, halting airport traffic, which were perceived as needed to deliver the drought-stricken lands for our upcoming corn harvest.

The rains which brought FLOOD waters as the local rivers, The DuPage, The Fox, The Des Plaines, spilled over their banks.

Out came the Nile-virus-infected mosquitoes who had lain dormant and quiet. With a vengeance they hatched and went looking for dinner.

And, a microscopic un-named mite jumped thorough neighborhoods biting pets, children and adults with abandon, leaving red itchy welts. Very itchy welts.

Autumn, wherefore art thou?

Your frustration is showing.  About this time of the year, many start hoping for winter and a good hard freeze.   The mid-west has been hit hard this year.

Eileen, move to Arizona, we only worry about the heat here, and in the winter you don't have to shovel the sunshine.

Lenn,

Our weather this year has been rough. We've had about 5 perfect summer days! This past weekend our Air and Water Show was a "wash-out." The clouds were low, and the rain was heavy. Kinda hard to watch the Blue Angels. And we have more rain on the way!

And, I think, that this weather also affects many buyers. They may not recognize it...but, the heat is difficult to surmount when you're going in and out of air conditioned homes and cars. It's very wearing according to my Relo buyers.

Jim,

Arizona is great for visiting. But, actually, too much sun for me...and not enough water. I really liked Portland which is great for gardening. I suspect every area has weather problems. Think it must be global warming.

Today on "World News with Charles Gibson":

Midwest Under Water:
Throughout the Midwest, record rainfall has left hundreds fleeing and towns and countrysides underwater
.

I was not exaggerating. Just glad we're far enough north to avoid hurricanes and tropical storms!
