Lucky Strike Lanes Opens at CityScape in Phoenix

There has been a lot of talk about the recent opening of Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge at CityScape in Downtown Phoenix. If last weeks preview “VIP Party at Lucky Strike” is any indication of their future success, the owners and developers must be pretty happy.

Lucky Strike has opened in some pretty swanky locations around the country and they are known to throw a mean party. I am curious as to how many people have been to one of these places in their different markets. Do they draw large crowds of people?

Many times before people have talked about the “chicken and egg” syndrome that Downtown Phoenix faces. Not enough people to sustain cool places and not enough happening Downtown for people to want to live downtown.

Lucky Strike at CityScape in Phoenix

Believe it or not, I hung out in a bowling alley and it was one of the coolest parties I have attended in Downtown Phoenix, period. The mix of people was great, the food and drink was great, there was excitement in the air, and you could tell people were having a LOT of fun. BIG props to the staff at Lucky Strike and to Amanda Vega Consulting for pulling off a GREAT night of fun for a bunch of cool people.

From movers and shakers, to TV personalities, METRO employees, and those “in the know” with everything happening in Downtown Phoenix, the crowd at Lucky Strike showed that it is possible to have a good time downtown without the help of the Suns or Diamondbacks.

Lucky Strike is open until 2am on the weekends and will offer another fun way to get out with friends. The map below will show you the general area where Lucky Strike has opened as well as some of the new or planned businesses opening at CityScape which is a $900 million project hoping to breathe some new life and excitement into the area. (I will try to update the restaurants, shops, etc. in the future.)

Many people wonder if there are enough people downtown to sustain all of these new places at CityScape. Will it be a catalyst for growth? Given the fact that there are a LOT of new businesses and attorneys, etc. coming to take up shop at CityScape, will we see new life?

The location bodes well for some of the people looking to move downtown into areas like the ultra-cool 44 Monroe building or the beautiful condos at One Lexington or one of the awesome historic neighborhoods along Central Avenue. Without a doubt, the developer of CityScape is looking to take advantage of their location and to bring new faces into the mix. Many of us hope they haven’t thrown us a gutter ball…

Nick, it's exciting to hear about Lucky Strikes and CityScape! My husband and I first visited Phoenix back in '96. We loved the beauty of the area, but saw that the problems in the downtown were similar to those in Hartford, CT near where we lived at the time. Glad to hear there's a project going on to revitalize the city!

Hi Nina, thanks for stopping by! It has been fun to watch the projects downtown over the last few years. There has been a lot of small, independently owned projects that have done well. I think the mix of small and large projects will be good for all.

Nick,

Thank you for the comment on my blog...Hey Wed Night 9-1 I will be at your neighborhood watering hole 4ish.

Lucky Strike is a Kool looking place, But I don't know why I think of Cigarettes when I see the name.

Ok all kidding aside.  I am glad to see more going downtown!  I was bummed when the Coyotes moved west.  I wish now that I lived closer to the light rail.
