Buying a home is more like dating then getting married!

Choosing a home to buy and live in is much more like dating then getting married or at least it should be!  Many buyers start off looking for the right home for the rest of their lives.  However, homes are sold regularly and most people live in the same home for less then five years.  It is really funny to see people buy their "last" home only to call within a few years looking for another home.

So, just like dating, find the right "now" fit that will make you happy at this time and keep in mind that this home is a stepping stone to your future.  Don't accept a home that is okay with you but may not be desirable for resale.  The most important thing about a home is the future value not the present happiness!

My job, as your Realtor, is to keep my eye on your future financial investment and that is my primary objective as a professional Realtor.  Your job and it should also be a joy is to find the best home that fits your family's needs.  Both of us start off looking at location.  This is the key to present and future benefit of a home.  However, while you see the best fit for your family I'm looking at things like where will people want to buy a home in the future.  While you are looking at neighborhood I'm looking at traffic, distance to the freeway and lot size.

In a marriage we choose a mate for better or worse and for a lifetime.  In dating we are looking for instant happiness and let the long term take care of itself.  Looking for a home should be like dating and if it turns out to be a marriage it shall be beautiful!

Helping Families Move with Care

Very good post. The young people of today want now what Mom and Dad took 20 years to earn.

Sometimes they have to out buy each other then realize a few years later that really isn't what they wanted.
