9 Comments on Air conditioner damaged by dog urine
Greg:
Did you make this up, or is this a true story?
Stephen
I have seen it many times. How about a big fence to keep the dogs away. Thanks for the post.
My boy PEES LIKE A GIRL!!! I have had 3 "fixed" males and they do NOT lift their leg to pee. I suspect a one bathroom home with at least 3 females and a male with a weak bladder!!!
I've never seen anything like that before. That's an expensive number because of dog urine.
Wallace- I too have a male dog that pee's like a girl. He tries to lift his leg and manages it somewhat. He is a Cavalier King Charles and they have "feathers" on their legs. (hair that grows longer) so every night I have to wash him down to get the pee off his feathers and his chest. I was hoping when we got him fixed next week this would help. But now I'm guessing it won't do any good for the pee factor.
Greg, great picture. Once dogs pick a place to mark their territory they do it over and over again----resulting in lots of damage. More of the hidden costs of pets :)
Another reason to put a fence around the A/C or heat pump...
They caught one of the guys in Omaha that was stealing A/C's. The homeowner was home and watched the guy pull up in his pickup with a friend, get out with an ax, took 1 swing at the refrigerant line, another at the conduit, and they were about to pick it up, when the homeowner yelled at them. Homeowner wrote down the license plate.
WE had a a little dog that did big damage to our airconditioner......... the corroded metal actually washes away with a hose leaving a very inefficient area around the coils...... the fins were completely dissolved. My question (we are leaving it) is would it be better to wash the corroded fins off or leave them as they are?............... I would think having some air ciruclate around the tubes would be better than leaving the corroded fins?
Your better solution would be to put a fence around the A/C unit. If the damage is already done, you may find yourself with an inoperable unit in the very near future. If I were inspecting it for a Buyer, I'd recommend having the unit replaced.
