Lynden fairgrounds having just finished Northwest Washington Fair is getting ready for the third annual Lynden Rodeo.  The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo, will be in Lynden Friday & Saturday evenings August 24 & 25 .

About 100 rodeo animals, including a combined 65 bulls and horses will be part of the event. The entire crew staffing the rodeo are volunteers who will be taking care of security, ticket sales, hospitality and production.

Hospitality workers will prepare homemade cookies and cornbread for the cowboys in the show. The production crews will help with tasks like setting up chutes, roping cattle and opening gates for the event.

The rodeo is truly an American sport. "It is believed that rodeo was born in 1864 when two groups of cowboys from neighboring ranches met in Deer Trail, Colo., to settle an argument over who was the best at performing everyday ranching tasks.  That gathering is considered to be the first rodeo and it started the evolution of the true American sport."
