16 Comments on Fair Oaks squirrels are friendly and always hungry!
I can not believe you got that close to film the squirrel! So cute!
Susan-We have some squirrels in the area too, but most are pretty skittish. I guess CA squirrels are just braver than the ones we have here. Nice video.
Susan - That is a really adorable video. I have a herd of squirrels in my yard, and they always have antics that entertain. My cat could care less. Everyone, the dog, the cat, the squirrels, and I, seem to co-exist peacefully:-)
This little furball is really sweet, and certainly knows where the yummy food comes from. I don't know how they can chew so fast!
It appears that Mr. Squirrel was hardly intimidated by the presence of your kitty!
Very funny. We used to have a possum who came in through the cat door at night. Our cat would just sit there and watch the possum eat his food and then saunter out. Talk about the peaceable kingdom.

Susan, well I'm sorry to tell you that I'm not a fan of squirrels. They've caused too much damage in homes that I've owned. Anyway the reason I stopped by to comment was to ask if you've ever seen black squirrels? I used to see them in northern Illinois. Robin and Sue commented about white one's...I've never seen one of those.
Michael - We have to close the cat door at night because the skunks come in at night to clean up the cat bowls, and although they have never sprayed in our house, I don't want to tempt fate. They just walk in casually, walk right past us and into the kitchen. I got tired of shooing them out, so we close the door at night now.
Nick - We normally have just red ones and gray ones, but we have seen one black squirrel a few times in our yard and one of the neighbors saw him recently too.
You would think that they had plenty to eat, judging from the mess on the patio from their eating pine nuts from pine cones and tossing the "petals" down from the trees after taking out the nuts. But they still seem to want the nuts my husband and I give them too.
Susan, someone should remind that sweet little squirrel that your kitty is a carnivorous preditor! But I guess the squirrel thinds that where there is a cat, there is Cat Chow!
Susan I love the video! Our squirrels don't let you get within a mile-I can't believe you can get that close especially with the camera right up to the window.
My cat would have been going nuts. He tries to attack almost anything that moves near him.
Susan, I came back to read the comments and I went to the "Squirrel" webstie that Robin and Sue pointed out and it was hilarious. With several towns claiming the white squirrels as there own with a variety of laws protecting them...there even seems to be some bad blood between towns as to which one had them first etc., etc.,...funny stuff.
The squirrels around here like to get up close and personal. Looked like he would have come right in the house if you opened up the slider.
