I Tweeted, then Facebooked to find out about ActiveRain!

I was so excited this morning.  It was raining so that meant no morning walk.  No, I haven't given up walking but that meant I could get an early start on ActiveRain.  Writing today's blog; responding to comments; reading new posts and commenting on them.  I was so busy yesterday I had a lot to do to catch up.

Laptop open.... screen on.  Oops!  The dreaded Proxy Error.  How can that be?? They had it fixed months ago.

Maybe it's my laptop.  Maybe it's not them; it's me!  Restart the laptop.   No, that wasn't it.

woman frustrated with computer

Whatever it was, I tried several times this morning but still no ActiveRain.  I could call someone but we're 3 hours ahead of the west coast.  Not a good thing to call Brad or Kerrie at 3 a.m.

"Hi, Brad.  I can't get on ActiveRain.  Oh, didn't realize it was so early.  Go back to bed... and disregard the number on your Caller ID.  Who? Oh this is hm-m 'Karen Anne Stone' "  (don't tell her)

Finally the light bulb went off and I knew how I could find out if it was my laptop/server or ActiveRain.  I got on Twitter and there it was:

Twitter

Then Facebook:

Facebook

Yep,  it's ok.  They'll have it fixed.   No need to worry.

So, while I'm not a big Tweeter or Facebook fan,   I am on it because social media gurus say I should be.   And this is an instance when you can see where using Twitter or Facebook to send out mass alerts or notices can be of use.

Thank you ActiveRain for keeping us updated!

All us have experienced ActiveRain problems today. Hopefully, it gave you time to draft some really good blogs to share. Best wishes for continued success.

I was nervous I wouldn't get my post on today too!  I happen to have today free...an unexpected fluke and was looking forward to banking some post drafts and working on a PowerPoint I need for a presentation...I had so much planned...like you was stopped in my tracks!

I too went to Facebook for the answers...it's a great resource!

Margaret- I actually forgot about going to FB or Twitter, then it dawned on me what to do.

Roy- I had time this morning and was able to draft this post in Scribefire, and work on some other projects.

Al @ Ocean View Realty- it might have been raining here in Delray Beach, but not at my laptop.  So glad it's fixed.

Sharon- same here.  Was going to get a lot done on AR re stockpiling some posts and catching up on comments but, it is what it is.  Right?  Being able to quickly communicate with people was what originally intrigued me about Twitter when it first came out.  I guess it still works!

Richard- we might all need to go to some kind of AR therapy.  Ah, we don't need that... as long as we don't get any Proxy Errors!

Kathleen- oh no, you too!! What is it they say, misery loves company.

LOL, I had challenges too.  However, my cat woke me up very early so I was using Active Rain and then kept getting proxy errors.  Appartently this happened after I saved my post, but I apparently save it as a draft, so just rectified that one.  I guess that explains why no one commented...it wasn't up (plus no one could get in).

Smart thinking to go to twitter and FB.  I was too tired (due to my cat) to think clearly.

When all else fails, you can pretty much count on Twitter and/or Facebook to have the latest. Twitter definitely saved me some time and energy yesterday.

LOL, I didn't think to check for answers to my question about why I couldn't get on AR, though I did turn to FB for my morning entertainment...to the point that I had to force myself to "tame the addiction" and get out the door to a staging...LOL

Debbie- darn those cats!!!! Don't you just love them.  I've done the same thing... thinking I'd had my post "posted" only to find out I forgot to put it in "public" mode.

Christine- well, major corporations are using Twitter to counter act bad publicity, etc. so you know it here to stay.

Twitter- you bet.  It saved me dialing or emailing around to figure out if anyone else was having issues.

Carol- beware the FB/Twitter addiction.  It'll get you every time.  I have to set myself a  time limit.

I freaked out too Kathy when I couldn't get on AR. I thought it was my computer so I restarted it, blah blah blah. When that still didn't work I tried my husbands computer and AR still didn't load. I took a deep breath, went to my appointments and came back to AR, whew!

VB- you bet they do.  I never worry as long as I know it's not something on my part.
