dpdixonNorth Carolina has been targeted as one of the fastest growing retirement areas in the U.S.

I recently saw  a survey by NARA (developer of communities for 55 and over) which showed that North Carolina is the Number 1 future retirement choice for the 41-49 age group and that among all surveyed (ages 41-69)North Carolina ranked number 3  coming in behind Florida and Arizona.

There are currently about 78 million baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) in the United States and these people are retiring or thinking about retiring soon.  Retirees have a lot to offer  and use less of the county/city services than most other groups.  These people are usually very active in community activities, civic organizations and bring more disposable income to an area than other groups of residents.

Eastern North Carolina has much to offer retirees with our mild year round climate, waterfront living and activities, arts and cultural communities and recreational facilities.  Perhaps you are one of those who will be looking a new home in Hubert, N C or another area of Onslow County.

Retirees we welcome you to North Carolina--Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina.  bridgepix

Cynthia, It's crossed my mind, I know it is supposed to be beautiful there and much less expensive to live then New York.  I just might be calling on you one day!  I know two people who have moved there and love it.

Cynthia

My wife and I couldn't agree more.  Even though we live in the mountains of Virginia and love it here we always have to visit North Carolina at least once a year.  We love the Outer Banks in the fall.  Usually we try to stay in Duck or Corolla.  This year we have a place reserved for the last week in October in Duck.  It is usually still warm enough to enjoy, but there are no crowds.  One of these days we hope to have our own retirement home in that area.  Great post.

Cynthia, we were in Greensboro when we lived in North Carolina.  It was about 4 hours to the beach but we TOTALLY fell in love with the North Carolina beaches.  They are incredible!!!

Hi Marchel,
I missed this comment when you made it a couple of weeks ago, sorry!  Greensboro is a great town and we have lots of Greensboro people with second homes here.  Yes, our beaches are incredible.
