Tohono Chul - Things to Do in Tucson, AZ

I love Tohono Chul - hidden in the middle of stores, shopping, restaurants and retail buildings - it's your desert escape for serenity and rejuvenation. What IS Tohono Chul? Tohono Chul is a botanical garden where "nature, art, and culture connect". Easy to find near the intersection of Ina and Oracle in Tucson, AZ, Tohono Chul offers desert walks, guided tours, concerts, gift shops, events, dining, and relaxation.

You may have seen my earlier blog on the Night Blooming Cereus. Events like this are common, in fact they have calendars with classes and talks held on an almost daily basis.
Can't get enough of Tohono Chul as a visitor? How about being a Tohono Chul docent! (docent: i.e. volunteer, teacher, guide) The park is accepting applications for their fall class, and docent-wanna-be's are educated through 18 weeks of class, every Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. October through March.

Morning classes involve presentations and afternoon classes include hands-on activities in classroom and park, and an opportunity to interact with mentors. The class costs $125. A coffee for applicants is planned for Wednesday, September 15, at 10 a.m. in Classroom 1 of the education center. There will be a brief slide show on the program and a Q and A time following. Interviews are also being scheduled. If you are interested in the program, you need to RSVP at minjohnson@tononoculpark.org or you can call at 520-742-6455 ex, 235.
I gave my mother a gift subscription - membership at the park for a year last Mother's Day. If you haven't had the opportunity, give yourself a gift and visit this getaway escape nestled within the bustling city of Tucson, AZ.
Most lovely and meaningful post.........thank you
