How many Realtors® offer thank you gifts to buyers and sellers and what do you offer?  I have found a local grocery store that has a home on a gift card and I use it to let buyers buy their first groceries with it for their new home.  I have bought a home warranty.  I have bought a gift card at a home improvement store.  I have not bought cookbooks or flowers, etc.

Consumers out there -- what type of a thank you gift have you received from a Realtor® that really impressed you?

Thanks!

Rob,

I have done many different gifts. I'm not sure how important they are. I've varied the gifts depending on the client. Some people prefer flowers, other prefer tools. I get to know my clients in depth and usually can gauge what would be most appreciated by them. An agent in our office gives his clients Just Sold cards with a photo of the client's new house. Another agent in our office gives $100 gift certificates to home depot. Marie Spodek teaches a great GRI class that also addresses gifts. I got a lot of great ideas from her. The best one is to have a block party for your clients once they move in. Rub elbows with the neighbors and see if anyone else is thinking about buying/selling. I must admit I've never done this, but I love the idea!

Overall I think keeping in touch is the most important thing you can do. And the most appreciated.

Hi Tanya,

Throwing a block party does sound like a great idea.  Marie's great, isn't she?

I just did a closing today and gave a home depot gift card at their request.  I asked them to know what their preference was.  I also give a study Bible to the buyers if they want one but don't force it on them.  I have only had one couple turn me down on them and everyone else seemed very appreciative and one asked for an extra one for another family member.

Rob
