22 Comments on Happy New Year 5771 - A Few Songs To Celebrate From Around The World
Some Allen Sherman trivia: "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh. Here I am at Camp Granada. Camp is very entertaining. And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining"
Hi Dave -- you know that's funny, because I actually had that in this post!! I referenced the song because it came out the very time I was off to camp. Thanks for putting it back it!!
If he were alive he would get a kick out of getting internet mentions about his 1960's paradies.
Oy vey. Hag Sameach, v'hatima tovah for next week.
Carla, nice post. I think Youtube is having problems today. I'll come back later to hear all the songs.
Hi Jon . . . what a wonderful post. Dancing in the Dark
Hey Jane -- HA HA HA . . . Hopefully I'm already 'IN' -- LOL
Hi Pamela . . . let me know what you think!! Hope you like the selection ;-)
These are great. Thx for the great laugh. Really needed that.
One of my favorite songs, especially at weddings with the chairs.
Very cool! Thanks for providing all these links. What a great montage. I particularly liked the one from Tehran. Brave man, indeed.
Thanks so much Carla. Have a blessed holiday. Boy, does Allan Sherman bring back memories.
Hi Debbie . . . you're welcome.
Hey Tim -- glad you liked the music
Hi Kathryn . . . YES!! He has some matzo balls alright.
Hey Gabe -- That guy was hiliarous.
Great Music. I am a Christian but like many Christians I have a great deal of respect for Jewish People and Faith History as it is the source of our own faith and we believe even today that Jews are a set aside and special People to God.
Happy New Year and May the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob bless you this year.
Hi Gene . . . and remember, Ishmael . . . although we tend to forget him. He was also Abraham's son. And then . . . it just gets SO complicated . . .
Hey Andi -- as you know my story, as a Christian I believe we are all Children of God, if we want to be.
WOW !!!
I am so glad someone posted something like this...... I was going to post an informal teaching post, but takes the cake!!
Ketivah veChasimah Tovah LeShanah
Tovah Tikateivu !!
May you be inscribed and sealed for the new year, sister!!
\O/
Carla, Absolutely enjoyed the videos...thank you so much for sharing and educating! I still remember have the blessing to being invited to a Seder (sp, forgive me if not spelled correctly) dinner and bring my then teen age daughters. I truly believe knowledge of different customs is the key to peace in this world. We only fear that which we do not know. Blessings to you!
Hi Alexander -- thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed this. But, please write your post too!!
Hey Deborah . . . I agree!! We'd be surprised that our similiarities are greater than our differences. A shame that evil creates the illusion of separation.
Carla This is fantastico - I found the Iranian presentation unusual - I never thought it could be done. Religious occasion or not, I recommended it as a feature. The Texas video came alive with the fiddler
Hi Karen . . . as I say, that Iranian musician has some matzo balls. As a "patron of the arts" I appreciate the spirit of this man, and what his art has to say. To me, this is a masterpiece. An expression of freedom in a land where it's limited and controlled.
