This is one of a series titled Downtown San Diego from a Hornblower Harbor Cruise If you happen to be in San Diego and near downtown when the sun is shining and the temperature is pleasant (around 76°F), I can highly recommend taking a two-hour cruise on Hornblower Harbor Cruises, which I did this afternoon. Following are a few pictures of downtown San Diego from out on the water. In this first picture, the screwdriver-looking building in the middle is One America Plaza, the tallest building in San Diego at an even 500 feet. Funny how it looks the third tallest just in this picture: ♫♪♫♫♪♫

The following picture was taken with a 28mm lens and shows all of the tallest buildings in downtown:
I like the following picture simply because of the two sailboats in it:
The following picture shows One Harbor Place and Two Harbor Place, the two towers at the left. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore used to own the top penthouse of over 5,000 square feet in the left tower. The two blue towers in the middle are the Marriott, and just to the right, looking kind of green, is Omni Place, which overlooks Petco Park. Many of the San Diego Padres players have condominiums in Omni Place. At the far center right, you can see what looks like white sails. That is part of the San Diego Convention Center, where the NAR Convention was held last year.
And lastly, following is a picture of downtown San Diego looking north from down near the 32nd Street Naval Station. The two white towers at the left are the Hyatt, and the two blue towers at the right are the Marriott from a different angle than the previous picture. You can also see One America Plaza in the center, definitely not looking like the tallest building in San Diego.
let me Google one for you.

I have often wanted to do the Hornblower cruise, but something always puts itself in the way. AND, I did not know that Bruce WIllis and Demi Moore had a pad there. Cool
Love the pictures of downtown San Diego from the Hornblower Harbor Cruise. I think my favorite is also the one with the sailboats in the foreground.
Jim, The two sailboats reminded me of America's cup when Mike Conner of SD was captain some years ago. Is his business still making draperies in SD? His building was awesome as well.

Jim, the photos make me want to jump on a sailboat. Or maybe take the Hornblower Cruise and see the San Diego skyline from the water, as you did.
Jim - Thanks. Next time I get to San Diego I hope to see more than the Navy facilities! The skies were so clear on this day!
Great photos Jim. They remind me of the ones that my brother sent me from out there.
Jim, That cruise looks like the perfect way to see San Diego... minus the traffic! Count me IN ! Kathy
Hi Jim, I love the shots of the buildings and the information about the names of the buildings.
Jim, I think you live in one of the most beautiful places in Southern California and you have the pictures to prove it!
Thanks to everyone for stopping by and commenting. Comments are greatly appreciated!
I'm trying to follow up on these older posts like this one to see if anyone had any questions or if I really need to respond to anyone's comments.
I will read all the comments and respond to any that need a response, but rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those in comments below this one. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!
Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too! At the end of the 2010, which is the Chinese Year of the Tiger, I'm going to put together a slide show or an eBook of all the ActiveRain kitties. If you see any stray cats roaming around ActiveRain, gather them up and bring them over to our forever home right here! The more the merrier!
Also, if you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days. It has great pictures and cat trivia, and you can use it year after year since it only has dates but not years.
Best wishes to everyone for a great Fall!
