Did you ever just want to go somewhere and no one wanted to go to the location that you did?
Felt like an adventure but just didn't have the energy to go on the trip AND talk your friends into it?
Does the thought of traveling with your significant other just make you cringe? I call it the 'Seven Dwarfs
Syndrome' - sleepy, dopey, or grumpy? Know that guy? Want to take a trip AWAY from him?
Here's what I did - I traveled alone! Well, not really alone but with a small group of other women that wanted to see a particular destination. It was safe, upscale and completely hassle free! They do all the work for you setting up your itinerary, you just show up with your passport!
I have personally taken 3 tips with Adventure Women based out of Montana and the other agency (Wild Women Adventures) unfortunately is no longer in business. What I've done is compile a few places where you can begin venturing out on your own possible 'adventure'. You travel with all like minded ladies to the destination that you choose. Varying interest levels from cooking, archeology, adventure rafting - you name it! You can have a pampered trip or rough it out in the bush - your call!

Lyn, how great this would be... traveling without "da guys." Not having to take care of them on vacation, just like we end of taking care of them at home. Sounds like a double vacation to me.
Separate vacations are not a great habit as your mate should be compatible, like to do the same things and not be one of the seven dwarfs. Exploring, discovering is key. Together most of the time right? Any vacation should be flexible and not have set in stone run here, do this, do that as that is like work remember?
Lyn - Several years ago I did such a trip, traveling into the Amazon. Most of my friends were not keen on the idea of sleeping on the ground with all the critters we've read about, but I had no problems and loved it.
John: See, it was an adventure for you & you didn't mind all the critters involved. Some people/friends don't want to rough it at all. I have many friends that are scared to do lots of different things.
Andrew: Thanks for that 'life lesson' there. I will not stay home if my 'significant other' does not want to travel or leave the comfy couch. Everyone's goals in life are different. Did I mention he is the 'grumpy' that the post refers too?
Carolyn: I like your idea of the double vacation :-)
Lyn, I think it is a great idea. it is kind of like the guys on a fishing trip or hunting trip. I think that it is good to get away from each other for a while.
I sent my wife on vacation alone 2 years ago for her birthday. This year for her Birthday, I am going to go get her. Damn...how the years fly!
Sounds like a great idea Lyn. Spa, shopping, quietly reading, sleeping in, yep, I can handle it! ;)
Peggy: It's actually alot of work some of these trips, they have mandatory activity levels for all that go on the trip.
