I've never been to  a NAR Convention and decided this was the year, I paid for my reservation last April. I left the room reservation to work on.  Oh... Bill Cosby, James Taylor and Lou Holtz  will be some of the Head Liners.

Just last week my Wife and Girl Friend (From Scotland) went to Vegas. They Planned this to celebrate their  50th Birthdays this Year...in Vegas.

When I picked up the two Professional Shoppers at the Airport Wednesday, the first thing they said was "Are you sure you want to go to Los Vegas?.  it's very expensive now...not like it used to be...Coffee was $20 delivered to their room, (none in room coffee) Typical Breakfast is $15", and on the list went.

I check with the NAR Convention Web site, Rooms run around $125 to $184 a night for the average double room. Not Bad, I then decided to email our own Active Rain  Los Vegas Realtor Renee Burrows and my reports my wife regarding costs to go to Vegas and asked her for some suggestions.

Wow, Renee came back very quickly with a bagful of ideas on how and where to stay, and save $$$,

Here's our Renee's email response...If you too are going to NAR you may want to take some notes:

Hi Fred!  Unfortunately I am with  you and it has been this way for YEARS.  I would say try Terribles on Paradise.  It is close to the convention center but make sure it has transportation.  It is far from being a 5 star hotel but the accommodations are inexpensive.  There are also plenty of hotels off strip that are nice an inexpensive.  Unfortunately convention season brings a host of convention attendees in spring & fall and rates RISE.  August is typically inexpensive because of the heat.

I might suggest that you Google "vacation rentals Las Vegas".  There may be some strip high rise units available for less $$ and  you can make your own coffee and food in the units.  Be careful with homes "near" the strip as if you go off the strip one block or two or five, the crime rate rises.  Some of these vacation rental units can sleep a whole bunch of people so you can perhaps get a group of your associates together and rent a van to do this!

I am sorry I wasn't a huge help.  It just seems the more hotel rooms that open up, the more pricy everything gets in this town! Renee

Thanks Renee, You're Great !

I'd like  hear any suggestions you may have on  going to NAR in November

WOW!  Maybe I was more help than I thought I was!  Trust me, $120-$184 a night is CHEAP but if you could gather a group together and make it work with a vacation rental and van rental, it could get cheaper!  Did you find a place?

LOL SOrry but can't help this.  Your wife and girlfriend vacation together.  WOW!  My husband wants to know how you can get away with this!

PS:  I know what you were saying by our conversation!
