Be Careful What You Wish For

By
Real Estate Agent with Red Key Realty Leaders

A while ago I wrote a series of blogs about the "nicknames" that Buyers Agents give homes to remember them. One of the "nicknames I featured was a tongue in cheek look at The Rooster House.

Imagine my surprise when over a year later ...you guessed it... I went to a listing call and  came across my very own Rooster House . No way!

If you know me, you know I am a feet on the ground girl. But, I have to admit even I wondered, since I had put this out to the universe... did I bring this very home into my life!

Lest you think I am kidding I will give you a chance to judge for yourself.

Rooster

Very cute home, wonderful Seller. She fell into the trap a lot of collecters do. One day she picked up a rooster she liked, then, her kids thought "Oh good, now I know what to get mom for..." after that, for every birthday, Christmas, etc she got a new "friend."

Now, she has moved on. She no longer collects Roosters, but she has a lot of them for sale!

Yes, looks like you willed the house back into your life -- how funny!  This is a good cautionary tale about beginning to collect ANYTHING! I have one rooster in my dining room and anytime someone comments, I mention that it's the one and only rooster I need thank you very much.

Nancy- I think I did will it into my life! At least my Seller thinks I did. She and I had a laugh over it,when I told her about my blog. She says from now on she is not collecting ANYTHING.

Jack- It has sold thank goodness...and is now "roosterless"

Cait, that could be my mom's house! It sounds like your seller had a sense of humor and did what it took to get the house sold. Congrats!

Cathy- The home has SOLD thank goodness. My Seller was wonderful, she did everything I asked her to do, was patient in this very tough market, and opened her mind to a less than conventional sale. All in all, it was a positive experience.

Cait~Your blog brought back a fond memory of a woman with whom I used to teach. She had a huge display of trolls of every kind. It all started when one sophomore student gave her a troll and she profusely thanked the student, who she had not thought even liked her. By the end of the year, other students in that class brought troll gifts. Because she taught a foreign language, she had many of her students for two or three years. Intending to only keep the display until that class graduated, her plan to dismantle the display was twarted by subsequent incoming students adding to the collection which grew every year and eventually overtook a corner of the classroom.
