Foto Friday - Or Should I Say Foxy Friday ?

By

I often take my camera with me when I walk my dog because you just never know when a photo opportunity will present itself.

A walk through the neighbourhood last evening brought a totally unexpected sight.  As my daughter and I walked past a home in the subdivision she noticed a fox just sitting in a driveway.  He took a look at us but couldn't be bothered.  After sitting for a minute or two he made his way across the front lawn and peeked at us from behind the bushes.

I don't recall ever seeing a fox in Oakville but with all the new home building going on I'm sure they are being displaced from their forest and ravine homes.

The rest of our walk,,,,,,,,well it was quite uneventful.

Don't forget to get out there and go for a walk!  And take your camera.

Wow Jenny! He doesn't even look afraid at all!  And he is very beautiful!  Looks like really long legs to me, but then I have a Daschound...

Wow I remember seeing a flash of red in a state park in Ohio back in 1995 and being told how lucky I was to see a fox.  That's amazing... We went to the zoo last weekend and thought of Canadian AR members when we saw the moose.

Good capture Jenny, I feel sorry for them when their habitat is taken over - but they are very adaptable to subdivision living!  Such a cute little guy :-)

Beautiful photo....he looks a bit scrawny; maybe he's looking for some dinner.

Great pictures, Jenny.  The few foxes I have seen have been very shy and quick to skedaddle!  You were ready and look at the photos you have!

Great shots Jenny, he even looks pretty healthy and well fed. The last fox we saw was down Port Credit way and he was all skin and bones.

Jenny, cool find...I was previewing a house last year and saw a family of fox's in the back yard...they lived under a shed.  There were three kits and all I had was my camera phone...the photo didn't come out very good.  Anyway yours was really a good catch.

Jenny - He is probably too lazy to move around very much since it has been so hot and humid.

Hi Todd and Devona - you've got that right.  That's why the camera comes in handy.

Hi Evelyn - Yes I'd say his legs are a little longer than your dog's lol.  I love his tail.

Hi Maureen - I was actually going to put this on Moose Monday and tell Gerry I tried but this was all I could come up with lol.

Hi Mary - It was just such an oddity to see him there.  I think he was more afraid of my dog though than she was of him.

Hi Jo - as long as he didn't want Lola for dinner.

Hi Wanda - yes, you have some beautiful places to walk.  Take your camera and get out there.

Hi Bruce - luckily it was still light out.  He seemed to be quite at home there.  I hope he wasn't the family pet.

Al & Peg, I don't know what these guys eat but I hope people aren't feeding them.

Hi John, thanks for coming by and commenting.

Hi Nick that would have been quite a sight.  I don't know if I'd like them living that close.

Hi Marc, well that heat and humidity evaporated today.  Time to dig those sweaters out.
