31 Comments on The power of PINK
Honestly David I hadn't considered pink accents before this. As a child my mom pushed pink on me to the so I have almost none in my inventory or wardrobe. Do have some peach but now you have opened my mind to pink. Very interesting and I love the artwork too!
That explains it, Tom! (wink)...was it at least a high gloss pink (laquer finish, perhaps)?
LOL, Julie...what isn't sitting in the warehouse has been carefully distributed amongst select friends (or sold).
Ginger, my Mom did the same thing to my sister, so I 'get' it!
Hi David great style and I love what you did. Simple sophisticated and interesting.
I think I overdosed on pink as a little girl. Since pink & brown have come into vogue it has made me secretly begin to lust after it again. I was thinking I would have to wait to my kids are grown (the boys & a tomboy) to put it into action. My husband is not a big pink fan but by then he won't have the will to fight me on home decor :). Love it. Love it. Love it.
Thank you, Barbara. ;-)
LOL, Leanne...just remind him you're the decorating professional in the family.
Your photos look great and really compliment the spaces. We don't have many pink accents in our inventory, but did have to stage an all pink child's bedroom and "make it work". Luckily the home sold and they didn't have to tone down the Princess Room!
OMG, David. And pink carpet to boot! You definitely pulled a "Tim Gunn" on this one. Bravo.
David: I usually shy away from pinks and purples, but you've inspired me to take another look. Just beautiful!
Purple is probably THE toughest, (in my humble opinion), Michelle. Although I'm certain one our amazing Rainers here could probably show us something in that palette that works(ed) well. Anyone up for the challenge?
David - Ok, never in a million years would I have thought of pink as the accent colour for those golden walls, but it looks fantastic! I'm so excited, I'm going to rush out and purchase some pink accessories. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Looks like we were 'typing' at the same time, Sally. Target use to have a ton of those pillows, but they're hard to find now. It's at the whim of the story buyer I guess. I remember Kathy Burke showing off some killer samples in one of her pillow blogs not long ago. You could check in with her as well. Either way, I'm sure you'll find them somewhere. I'll look forward to THAT post for sure. ;-)
I'm still a pink lover, don't have it in my house, but the girly in me loves it! Gorgeous job and photos.
That's the fun part about staging...you can leave your house alone and expriment on someone elses. Just kidding, but it does give us a different canvase to work with each time. Fun way to look at it, don't you think? ;-)
What a great job David! Those photos are beautiful. Now to get my artist husband to take down his original paintings...oh wait, there is some neon pink in them!
I would have never thought to use pink as an accent color. It has never been a big color for me. BUt your pictures make me re-think this. They look great and I love how you introduce the pink as just the accent color - especially with these shades of yellow. It really makes a very beautiful statement.
Let me know when you try your first re-pink, Birgit. We were almost the only stager using pink accents about 4 years ago, and about a year after that, we started seeing more. (wink). We never mention (to the client or realtor) that we're going to work some pink into the room (in our initial discussion) because the typical reaction is, "really? Are you sure? Where?!". Of course, they all squeal like pigs in slop once they see the final results.
David, these rooms are just beautiful! I, too, have never been much of a "pink" girl, but you've shown us a whole new way of looking at it; it's not just for Mary Kay or 6 yr old girls anymore! I can't wait to give it a go!
LOL, Tamara...just caught your response before signing out to grab some dinner! You'll have a ball with it, I know. (I still recommend that the pink Cadillacs remain off site or tucked inside the garage)! ;-)
