Do You Read Re-blog?

By
Industry Observer

To me, it depends. I did subscribe to a lot of members of Active Rain. I enjoy reading their blogs, like what they have to say, and trust them if ever they re-blog. I'm not online all the time to read most of the posts. So sometimes I just click my subscriptions button to read blogs from the people I subscribed with, and if they have re-blog and I know I missed that original blog, I would definitely read it.  Why? It's because if they liked the post and was good enough for them to take time to re-blog it, I'm sure I will like it too.

I also admire re-bloggers  how they write and introduce the blog in the simplest term, for me, I think that's being respectful to the original writer. At the end of the blog, the re-blogger comes again and it says "please send your comment to the original post," and then disables the comment.  Again for me, that's pure sincerity.

But then again, if they are doing it only to get points (I hope not), I will click next. Maybe they will lose my trust and my subscriptions. That's just me, how about you? Do you re-blog? Or should I say, do you read re-blog?

Hi Reynold -- Your perspective makes perfect sence.  That said, I just can't get into re-blogs for some unexplained reason, it just feels odd, but then again, AR did when I first started as well, perhaps I need to get over it! :)

I love the reblog feature for several reasons: 1) there is some great content out there & great to share, 2) sometimes I've missed the original blog, 3) it's an honor to be reblogged and important it strengthens both parties' google juice and 4) it's a great way to give some a nice compliment.

That being said, it's often overused and serial rebloggers annoy me and people doing this just for points annoys.  But, when it's sincere, I love it.

Whether or not the post is a reblog really doesn't matter to me. If the content is interesting, I'll read it.

Reynold,

I think the reblog can make a lot of sense. I certainly read them. However, I would usually prefer that the comments are left open.

I have many blogs that really grabbed me, and definitely to share on my outside blog - some are very worthy of re-blogging!

I have never reblogged. There are obviously many great posts to reblog, I just simply never have. Perhaps I need to think twice about who is not receiving the message due to my not reblogging the post.

Reynold, I have re-blogged a few posts but I only re-blog info that I think will be beneficial to my readers and any potential client that might happen across it.

Reynold, I definitely read reblogs. I would miss some great posts if they weren't passed around by other members. It's hard to keep up with 190,000 people! lol Serial rebloggers? Hmmm, don't always read theirs because many of them just pick anything.

If a subscriber does a re-blog I will look at it and click through to the original content.  I think that should be in the first couple of lines of the reblog and I think that the comments should be disabled.

I do reblog posts every once in a while.  If they are about financing news, staging tips etc. sometimes I like to reblog these.  I also do read reblogs if they look interesting.  They catch my attention I think because someone else has taken the time to read them and reblog it.

I have yet to reblog.  It probably would be a good idea since there are some great posts on here that may not get the same exposure.  But I like generating original stuff.

Hi Reynold,

We re-blog when the content is of value to our audience, points are not an issue, and yes to us it is a compliment to the original author to re-blog.

Hence it is very unlikey we would ever re-blog members only material (unless it really isn't just benefiting members only)

Happy Selling (and Re-Blogging)

Reynold:

I seldom re-blog.  I would rather have all original content in my blog. But, I love it when people re-blog my posts. It is great exposure. The intro the people write to the re-blog is important and can often be interesting in itself.

Reynold - simply stated, yes, and yes. I do re-blog, not often, but, if it is a topic I feel deserves more exposure I will re-blog it, usually to groups other than in which it was originally posted. I have always also added something to the post, whether just my reasons for re-blogging or additional information, and sometimes opposing views.

Reynold, I catch many things on a reblog that I would have missed. I then read it and if it jells with me I will go and comment on the original authors blogs.

When I reblog it is usually for consumers in Ann Arbor that I feel it would be helpful too. Why reinvent the wheel or spend time saying was someone else said so well?

Reynold,

Thanks to Lenn for the reblog and my comment there:  Don't think I have disabled comments,at least not intentionally. I really like "working" the reblog when I find  ".... the comments are more interesting than the original post or introduction to the reBlog."

Reynold 0 good topic. I don't think I've seen this before but I may be clueless.

I always read the reblog commentary - and BTW am glad they now require it - and sometimes is even better than the original post. I like to hear the perspective the reblogger has and why they chose the post to reblog. I am NOT a fan of disabling comments and always go to the original writer and comment.

I like when folks read MY reblog commentary AND comment, so I am more than happy to do the same.

Jeff
