Positive signs for Connecticut Housing Market For First Two Quarters Of 2010

There are Positive signs for Connecticut Housing Market For First Two Quarters Of 2010 according to a University of Connecticut School of Business Report.  The University of Connecticut School of Business has released a report for the first two quarter on the Connecticut Housing Market, and they show some positive signs for Connecticut.

The reports states that "Preliminary data for the second quarter of 2010 show that Connecticut single family home prices increased by 2.1%, the first year-over-year increase since 2006, 3rd quarter."  Connecticut also had a 29% increase in the number of transactions in the first quarter, and a 13% in the second quarter.  The report goes on to say that "Metropolitan areas centered on Hartford, New London, Stamford, and Waterbury had the fastest rates of increase, all at more than 4%."

Even some of the negative news in the University of Connecticut School of Business Report is positive.  For example condominium prices declined in Connecticut by 5%, but this is less of a decrease than we experience in 2009, and shows that things may be turning around in the condominium market as well.

Connecticut is expecting more foreclosures in up coming quarters, so we will have to see if this trend continues.  You can read the full University of Connecticut School of Business Report on the Positive signs for Connecticut Housing Market For First Two Quarters Of 2010 at http://admin.business.uconn.edu/portalvbvs/desktopmodules/enewsletter/showarchive.aspx?aid=365

George, I would hold my optimism until the 3rd quarter of 2010 are completed. The first 6 months had the benefit of the tax credit, the 3rd quarter will be far more representative

Let's hope the trend continues George, it would be a relief to all. Ed maybe on to something though with the tax credit implications.

William, got to take them one at a time :)

Bill, I don't know.  Things are still going pretty good for me and we are almost at the end of the third quarter.  It will be interesting to see.

Ed your right it will give a much better picture, but for me it has been a good one so far.

Al and Peggy, the tax credit had a positive impact for me, and it did slow down a little after it was over, but it picked up again soon after that.  But that was me, and it might not have happened for everyone else.

George, I saw the same thing; when the tax credit ended things slowed for a while, maybe a month and then picked up again...I'm still busy.  I have noticed though that I've been approached by more people wanting to rent.  Hope you are turning a corner.  Let us know what happens iby the end of August or beginning of Sept.

Nick, I am not as busy as I was in April and May, but I am busier than I am normally during this time of the year.

Karen, it would be nice to see things turn around again.  We have been stuck in this market long enough.

Judi, we should have a better idea if that has happened by the end of this month, hopefully that will be the case.

Jennifer, I am keeping my fingers crossed that be so.
