~Can I start this weekend over again, please?~
I would like for someone to tell me that this could be possible. But I know it isn't. But it doesn't hurt to ask, right? I was so looking forward to this long weekend. I planned on going to the Taste of Colorado which is an annual event held downtown in Civic Center Park. It's a fabulous event with lots of different foods, concerts, a karaoke stage, entertainment , activities for kids and shopping! The type of shopping I like. There are craft and art booths, hand crafted jewelry, gifts and more. Since I make jewelry with sterling silver and real gemstone beads, I was anxious to see the jewelry to get some new ideas.
I had 2 buyers lined up to show houses. They are both ready to write offers. (Nice) I had some yard work planned that I hadn't had time to get to earlier in the summer. I had some jewelry to make. (I have an area in my basement set up for my jewelry making so I can leave it out and not have to always put it away.) I was going to a friend's BBQ where we always play yard games. So, you see, I had a busy weekend planned.
However, Friday night is when my plans got changed. I just want to re-live five seconds in time, a do-over, you know like when we were kids and didn't like the outcome. Okay, so here's what happened. I had just gotten home from showing houses. I went in the house to let my dog out and drop my off purse. I walked back outside to go get my mail from the mailbox kiosk we have in my neighborhood. And that is when it happened. I was walking down my driveway and I mis-stepped due to a small rock on the ground. I rolled my foot and landed flat face-first on the ground. It was my left foot. I still hobbled to get my mail. When I got in the house, I elevated my foot and put an icepack on it. But the pain didn't subside at all. I knew what was going to be in store for me.
Yep, at the emergency room after the x-rays, I received the verdict. I had broken my foot. But here's the kicker. Because it was a holiday weekend, I am going to have to wait until Tuesday to see an orthopedic. So for the long weekend I am in a hard splint and on the dreaded crutches. So in that short period of time, I flushed my weekend plans down the toilet!
But what you don't know is that on April 25, 2009, I had broken my right foot, And that was the 5th metatarsel as well. I lost my balance missed 3 steps and landed on the side of my foot on my garage concrete floor. Since both accidents happened at home, my brother-in-law wanted to know if I was going to sue the homeowner! (very funny)
So now you know why I would desperately like to start my weekend over. At the emergency room, I bid a farewell to the Taste of Colorado. There is no way I will be able to manouver crutches in that kind of a crowd. I won't be making any jewelry unless I sit on my butt to go down the basement stairs and crawl to my bead station. I am still going to go to the BBQ, but I will be watching the yard games from the sidelines. And I will have another agent show houses to my buyers.
The good news is, in 6-8 weeks I will be back on my feet and ready for action....until I break another foot! ( Oh, I really hope not!!)
