Can I Start the Weekend Over Again, Please?

~Can I start this weekend over again, please?~

I would like for someone to tell me that this could be possible.  But I know it isn't.  But it doesn't hurt to ask, right?  I was so looking forward to this long weekend.  I planned on going to the Taste of Colorado which is an annual event held downtown in Civic Center Park.  It's a fabulous event with lots of different foods, concerts, a karaoke stage, entertainment , activities for kids and shopping!  The type of shopping I like.  There are craft and art booths, hand crafted jewelry, gifts and more.  Since I make jewelry with sterling silver and real gemstone beads, I was anxious to see the jewelry to get some new ideas.

I had 2 buyers lined up to show houses.  They are both ready to write offers. (Nice)  I had some yard work planned that I hadn't had time to get to earlier in the summer.  I had some jewelry to make.  (I have an area in my basement set up for my jewelry making so I can leave it out and not have to always put it away.)  I was going to a friend's BBQ where we always play yard games.  So, you see, I had a busy weekend planned.

However, Friday night is when my plans got changed.  I just want to re-live five seconds in time, a do-over, you know like when we were kids and didn't like the outcome.  Okay, so here's what happened.  I had just gotten home from showing houses.  I went in the house to let my dog out and drop my off purse.  I walked back outside to go get my mail from the mailbox kiosk we have in my neighborhood.  And that is when it happened.  I was walking down my driveway and I mis-stepped due to a small rock on the ground.  I rolled my foot and landed flat face-first on the ground.  It was my left foot.  I still hobbled to get my mail.  When I got in the house, I elevated my foot and put an icepack on it.  But the pain didn't subside at all.  I knew what was going to be in store for me.

Yep, at the emergency room after the x-rays, I received the verdict.  I had broken my foot.  But here's the kicker.  Because it was a holiday weekend, I am going to have to wait until Tuesday to see an orthopedic.  So for the long weekend I am in a hard splint and on the dreaded crutches.  So in that short period of time, I flushed my weekend plans down the toilet!

But what you don't know is that on April 25, 2009, I had broken my right foot,  And that was the 5th metatarsel as well.  I lost my balance missed 3 steps and landed on the side of my foot on my garage concrete floor.  Since both accidents happened at home, my brother-in-law wanted to know if I was going to sue the homeowner! (very funny)

So now you know why I  would desperately like to start my weekend over.  At the emergency room, I bid a farewell to the Taste of Colorado.  There is no way I will be able to manouver crutches in that kind of a crowd.  I won't be making any jewelry unless I sit on my butt to go down the basement stairs and crawl to my bead station.  I am still going to go to the BBQ, but I will be watching the yard games from the sidelines.  And I will have another agent show houses to my buyers.

The good news is, in 6-8 weeks I will be back on my feet and ready for action....until I break another foot! ( Oh, I really hope not!!)

Mary Kay ~ I've tried to get a bunch of computer work done, but my pain meds keep knocking me out and I find myself sleeping more than typing!  I guess I need the sleep.  I'm hoping to get an early doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Thanks to all of you for your well wishes.  At least I didn't get a point hound with a comment of "thanks for sharing" or "nice story".  You all read my plight!

Dawn, okay I think you're getting to know me and that I couldn't pass that up.

Hey girl, really sorry that happened, but you really do have a great attitude about it.  I guess we all go on with our plans and never think about something like this happening to a friend...hope you're on the mend soon.

I did learn something new about you...you make jewelry.  Tell us about it...I also made jewelry for a few years, mostly cast gold...no jewels.

Wish I could do something to help with your current situation...actually another hobby of mine is setting broken bones...do you want me to fly out tonight?

Kathryn ~ I did ge4t a lot of rest and I'm hoping to get an early morning doctor's appt.

Nick ~ I think I expected that from you!  So you didn't disappoint me!

As far as the jewelry goes, I don't do any metal castings, mostly bead work.  But I didn't get a chance to work on anything since my meds kept making me fall asleep

Joan ~ yep...AGAIN!  This time, the Doc put me in an air cast.  It's a big boot that I have to leave on that I have a pump to pump air in the sides to support my foot.  Bowling will have to wait yet another year!

We spent part of Labor Day in the Emergency Room because my do it yourself husband hit his finger instead of the nail.  It was not pretty, I do not do blood well.  But at least he does not have to walk on his left index finger.  Sorry, please hobble safely until it heals.

Oh I so feel for you.  I broke my ankle in February when I fell down the stairs with a basket of dirty laundry.  Actually I think you are lucky??? not to have had the cast put on for a few days so the swelling could subside a bit.  I had the boot cast which was better as I'd take it off to put my foot up and ice it.  Couldn't drive for 6 weeks though.  My clients and kids had to chauffeur me.

I wish you a speedy recovery.  Although it takes a certain amount of time to heal and you cant change that can you??

Dawn, You poor thing!  Lucky for you, you only have 2 ankles, lol.  Now that you've broken both of them, your run of bad luck is surely over :)

Maybe you'll get some mercy buyers while showing on your crutches, ha ha. Hang in there!
