Pinehurst, NC has historically been known for its beautiful golf courses.  Another much enjoyed sport in Moore County is equestrian events.  Southern Pines, Carolina Horse Park, and the Pinehurst Harness track host a variety of activities year round.  Dressage, Hunter Jumper Events, and the annual Steeple Chase are among the most popular.

In and around Southern Pines, many communities dedicated to the equestrian enthusiast have developed. Horse Country in Southern Pines has some of the larger horse farms around the Walthour Moss Foundation, many acres of well manicured trails.

Other equestrian communities include:

McLendon Hills, a gated lake and equestrian community 10 miles west of Pinehurst,

Reynwood, a development of approximately 10 acre lots/farms surrouded by trails.

Grande Pines, a gated community next to Reynwood just 10 minutes from Pinehurst.

There are several others as well as horse farms scattered around the county.

Dawn, sounds absolutely like a beautiful area. I have never been there but it sounds like someday I must get up there. Best!
