Where Did You Go?

I noticed something interesting this morning when I posted to AR.  Several of my subscription agents have not posted since 2008.  Did they leave the business, did they stop because they thought it was not worth the time, or do they suffer from my newest favorite Real Estate Agent disease "BSOS" Bright Shiny Object Syndrome. Which is a topic for another blog. Agents are so easily distracted by "the next big thing in real estate" and they often chase the Bright Shiny Object instead of focusing on what works.

Posting on a blog is easy, takes only a few minutes, allows you to vent, discuss and educate, and most importantly move you up in the search engines which is what we all want on the internet. I know since one of my blogs for my Kern County REO Web Site has actually moved me to Number 1 in a Google Search of Kern County REO's more than once and keeps me in the top 5.

If you have not blogged in a while sit down and write up a quick one with some key words and tags that speak directly to your real estate business.  REO, Short Sales, first time buyers, etc.  You will be glad you did when the email comes in or the phone rings and they say they found you on the internet from viewing your blog.

Well...it can take more than a few minutes and can be a distraction sometimes.  You have to get into a routine, like exercise.

I've been "missing" some of those bloggers I'm subscribed to, too.  Consistency is the key.

I think there are a lot of reasons but I know  in the Boise, Idaho area, we have had about a 25% drop in membership since 2008.

I loved your comment about BSOS and I look forward to that blog.  Reminded me of a few bright shiny objects to ponder too.

I definitely have BSOS. I've stuck with blogging for a good bit now and intend to keep it up but any other form of marketing, not so much.

For me it is interesting hearing opinions or advice or warnings from other agent experiences. Its real world esperiences that we can learn from and become better.

Now if someone will just create jobs so our economy gets back on track. Not Gov't jobs to raise my taxes but real jobs.

Yes it is sad to say that we have lost many of our REALTORS due to the economic downturn but I think we can all agree that some of them will not be missed.
