Iowa City Real Estate Market Report August 2010 compared to August 2009
61 homes sold in Iowa City in August 2010 compared to 84 homes sold in August 2009. Not great numbers, but a significant improvement over July when the numbers were way down compared to 2009.

The source for the data used in all my market reports is from the Iowa City MLS. For the days on market/absorption rate I take numbers from the MLS and insert them into a simple Excel spread sheet to avoid manipulating the data. According to that calculation we have 7.5 months of inventory on the market, that's 227 days on market. This calculation does not take into account the different types of homes, location or different price ranges, so it's not a huge help to you if you're selling your home. If you're selling a home in Iowa City you would need to look at the number of homes sold in your specific neighborhood in the same price range to figure out how many days on market you can expect when you list your home for sale.
