This spider has been making its rounds around our house. It started on our master bedroom window. Then is was on the back porch. I guess there weren't enough insects, so she moved to the kitchen window... and her last stop thus far is the side garage door.  Why do I call her a "she"? According to the internet, the females get to be just over two inches whereas the males are barely 3/4 inches.  This one is HUGE!

Donna - I went to one of my vacant listings the other day and there was one hanging right in front of the doorway. I almost ran right into it. I do believe it is a banana spider and they are harmless.

Donna,  I've never seen a spider like that - thank goodness.  It gives me the creeps. I'm such a whimp about spiders.

Donna,

Got one of these up my shirt last year.. I didn't care at that point whether it was a he or a she.. or anything else about it except.. get it out of there.  I was working on the back patio in the veggie garden raised beds and all of a sudden I could feel something crawling on me.. pulled that shirt up and came unglued!  It was really huge. 

I will never forget that experience. .  .

It's not a corn spider nor a banana spider. It's a regular Orb spider that just catches and eats insects, which is the only reason we left it alone. Banana spiders have different yellow markings and have deadly venom.

And after a few days of running into it a couple of times while taking the trash out, Mike took the lawn blower to the web and it would not blow down. Those things are strong!
