Dachshound

Earlier this year, we lost our beloved Gretta.  She was with us for six year, and she is the first dog that has lived with me for more than a few months. She was so full of love.  She knew no fancy tricks, and only knew what her name, food and out meant.   I used to say that Gretta was useless, but I no longer think so.  She was full of love and she will hold a special place in my hear forever.

Tere, so sorry to learn about Greta.  You can tell my the picture and your comments that she was a great dog.

Its hard when you lose them, especially after such a short period. Go to the local doxie rescue and save a life! You can never replace Gretta, but there is another special one out there waiting for you.

Tere-our pets hold special places in our hearts long after they have physically left our sides.  Gretta obviously brought a smile to your face.

Gretta looks like she had a very sweet disposition...I'm glad you got to enjoy her for those years.

Tere:  Gretta sounds like a real "lover."  How much better the world would be if more dogs, and more people as well... were that "useless."  I am sure that your beloved Gretta will be with you in spirit for a very long time.

My Freddie... my basset hound who died in 1979... heck, I can still feel him standing on my lap looking out the car window... his tongue flapping in the breeze.  My Freddie and your Gretta are playing together right now.  I am sure of it.

Bless your heart...

Thanks for your thoughts.  About a month later we did get a rescue from the SPCA.  She is very sweet and already part of the family, but I still feel Gretta like you all say.  Their spirit stays with us.

Tere, It is so sad to hear of your loss. Our pets are so precious to us.  We form a bond with them like no other bond.  They bring such joy to our hearts and to our lives, as they love us unconditionally.  Hold Gretta's memory close.  They are such a blessing.

Tere---We had a Greta too---we spelled ours with only one 't'.  We replaced her immediately to try to cure our kids' broken hearts.  It certainly helped ease the pain.  So glad to know you got a rescue .  We rescued two this year and they could not be better  or more loving dogs.  It is as if they understand what you did for them!!
