Kate tackles the keyword part of Google traffic and web page rankings.

The video is too long. I watched most of it, but did not want to spend 11 munutes watching a video.

Today's lesson in the 30 Day Challenge is designed to give you an understanding of keyword traffic and competition. When writing blogs or content for any website, and especially when spending money on pay per click campaigns, it makes no sense to target keywords that have no demand or that won't drive traffic to your website or blog.

If you are blogging to generate leads or increase your brand, it's likely that you want the biggest return for the time and/or money spent. Spending the time researching what your niche or potential client is searching for, will maximize the time that you spend blogging and get you a bigger return.




Watch this video several times to ensure that you understand the concept. The key elements that you want to grasp are:

1. Understanding Traffic Estimates.

2. How Web Page rankings develop over time.

3. Why we use Broad Match Traffic Data.

4. Why we use Phrase Match Competition Data

5. The difference between Broad, Phrase and Exact Match.

At this stage we are not actually researching key words, just take the time to understand the concepts and think about how you can apply them to your business.

The fact that you found the 11 minute video too long is a great reminder of how we act and think these days.  We want short and to the point content.  Our attention spans are shorter and our expectations of instant feedback are higher.

I try to keep all my videos under 2 minutes.  Short sweet and too the point.

Kate's post does share details on keywords, traffic and web page rankings. Too bad you didn't watch the entire video, Phil. Makes it a bit difficult for this reader to comprehend re-blogging it (a form of endorsement). If it was part of your 10 weekly re-blogs for points acquisition, my apologies - I understand.
