Are You Prepared For Disasters?

Disasters does happen and happens when we least expect them. It could be an accidental fire that burn down a house, a major flood, or an earthquake. Many times we can try to minimize the damage by doing some preparation work.

Are You Prepared for Disasters?

This Friday evening while enjoying playing a computer game, the computer complained about low in memory. After saving all the files and restarting the computer, the computer no longer booted up. Tried unplugging the power to let it cool for an hour and a few other things but still could not load Windows.

I was able to took out the hard drive to connect to another computer, run a data recovery program for 8 hours and was able to back up about 99.9% of the data including lots of contracts and agreements. Was not able to reinstall Windows after formatting the drive a few times. Found the hard drive had lots of bad sectors on it. Luckily was able to go to the manufacturer website and request a new drive because it is in warranty.

I didn't expect my computer to die on me but luckily was prepared to minimize the damage by retrieving all my data back and have computers to continue my work.

Computer issues are the least of our worries if there other other natural disasters like wildfire, flood or earthquakes. We need to make sure we have emergency food and supplies at our homes and cars. Unfortunately it is hard to recover from a bad accident if we are not prepared. And sometimes we don't get second chances.

Are you prepared for disasters? If not should you start to?
