I'm sure you've all heard the news, home sales have dropped yet again nationwide, despite record low interest rates and low home prices. However, Real Estate is very local, so let's take a look and see what has happened to Whittier Real Estate so far this year (and compared to the years before).

Compared to the previous year, Whittier Residential Property Sales actually were up February through June, but then declined significantly in July as well as August, which are historically very strong months in Real Estate.
Even though the sales numbers have come down, the good news is that the Median Home Prices are on the rise again. Whittier's Median Home Price (for July 2010) is currently at $332,500 (based on the latest numbers provided by the California Association of Realtors) compared to $305,000 in July 2009 (that's a 9% increase).
Times are uncertain, but some things are for sure: interest rates are incredible and home prices are still really good in our area, and it is a great time to buy Real Estate - not just for investors, but also first-time-buyers as well as repeat buyers.
