Never in our history have so many been under so much stress.   There's worry about paying the mortgage, earning a living, paying bills, feeding the family, the kids college tuition.   This list of things people worry about is endless.

The sad part of this is it's taking a toll on our health, our families and relationships with others.  Stress accounts for reduced productivity, broken marriages, heart attacks.......and on and on.

"Stress is Stupid."   Write this on a Post-it note and stick it on your computer monitor as a constant reminder.

It may be time to just let go.   Adopt a new life philosophy.  We have only today....and there's no guarantee what tomorrow will bring.

Believe it or not there are actually people out there who sacrifice everything for the sake of appearance.   Children go to school hungry so parents can maintain an unrealistic lifestyle.   The days of keeping up with the Joneses are as dead as many of the people who sought that lifestyle.

If the task becomes stressful, walk away and return to it later when you've had a chance to unwind.

The bottom line is cool your jets.  Do what makes you happy.   I like giving gifts to friends.   Not large gifts...sometimes second hand store gifts that suit their interests or personality.

My father always told me to live every day of life to the fullest.......we're all going to be dead for a very long time.   There's wisdom in that line.

David, today is a day that pounds this home for me. I've always tried to "just say no" to stress, but it's really trying to creep into my life.

Profound post!    Your father was clearly wise.    My father used to sing "enjoy yourself, it's later than you think" around the house!
