Wordless Wednesday - A bobcat, a coyote and a fawn... from my front window

My front window looks over a big field out in Saratoga CA.  It is just west of Silicon Valley, and backs up to miles and miles of open space.  Right smack dab at the edge of the city...  So you never know what types of wonderful guests I will see on any given day.  So I always have my camera, and binoculars right on the window ledge, just in case!

Bobcat

This Bobcat is a baby, about 2/3 the size of a full grown bobcat.  He was trying to chase the small deer, but the momma deer kept lowering her head and stopping the baby bobcat from doing anything...  I didn't have my camera for that part!  It was out the bathroom window.

Coyote

This guy was just sniffing around on the same day, chasing some deer, but must have gotten bored...  He was with another one, and were walking across the driveway...

Fawn

And last, is a baby fawn...  He has a brother and seems to be around everyday.  They have gotten used to us, and never really get scared if I go out and pick apples or plums.

The road is my driveway, so I decided to show pictures of nature right up to the house!

Liz and Bill - Cool!  What is crazy, is there have been sightings of Mountain Lions in the park next door, so we are very vigilant now when we are out front.  The back is fenced off, but I guess they could easily jump the fence I guess..

Chris, Our domestic cats can jump to the top of our front loading washer on the pedestal, so a mountain lion?  I'm betting a fence is just a minor irritation.

it reminds me of the old Mutual of Omaha wildlife programs as a kid!  LOL!  There are so many deer around...  and they are pretty fast too!

Hey Chris, nice post...Lucy and I watched a red-tailed hawk across the street swoop in and take a vole on Monday afternoon, then took off and flew not 5 feet over our heads with it hanging from his/her mouth...It doesn't get any better than nature in the raw...Enjoy the day.

now THAT would be cool!  I watched this young cat crouch down into the fiend, and watch the deer, and try to sneak up on em...  But it didn't work... Then got distracted and ran after some birds...  Then got distracted and layed down in the sun...  lol!

Beautiful!  Out here I am on the very edge of the eastern plains (or so I tell myself, lol), so the wildlife doesn't usually come up to my driveway.  But last year I trained for a half marathon and I started to notice that even though thy aren't on my driveway, they aren't far off.  I've seen a fox, a coyote, a turkey vulture- all things I had no idea were so close to my neighborhood.  cool!

Chris, Those are great captures, especially right outside your door! I've come face-to-face with a coyote that was after one of our cats and we scared each other, he screeched to a halt and I just stood there!

Wanda - What happened!

My friends dog started barking at a coyote up the hill and started chasing him, then two more came out of the woods, and that dog yiped back to our safety!  Crazy!  :)

Chris - great pix!  That coyote looks much healthier than the ones I've seen in Redwood City and San Carlos - hopefully it's not because he's dining on cute Thumpers and Bambi's like the ones in your photos.
