What Will the Landscape Look Like 6 Months From Now?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

When I started my business, lots of people were telling me "Are you crazy?", "This is not the best time to start a real estate office!"  and other such things.  Yes, the market was heading southward and things were getting slower and harder to close.  It's not that I just love a challenge but I felt it would be a good time for me.

With thirty plus years experience in the business, I realized many agents were so new they would not understand what it would take to stay in business and would drop out opening up a bigger place for me and my company.  Sure enough, that is what happened.  I made a place for myself and now we are established and doing well.  All, in the middle of a recession.

I am still asked, what, and how I am doing this.  All I can say is "Come to work for me and I will teach you how to be a success in any kind of a market."  One of the biggest challenges I have is finding agents who really want to work and will dedicate themselves to this profession.  Why does it seem so many in real estate think they can make full time money and only work part time.  It does not work that way!  I am always amazed at how many hours people think they worked when they don't have to punch a time clock.

I know brokers always have a tough time recruiting and keeping agents.  It is a revolving door at most agencies.  Brokers can improve their companies by paying more attention to their agents and giving them the training and support they need.  This will make them more successful and the turnover rate will go down.  That will increase the bottom line for any business.  Why don't more brokers do this for their agents?  Sometimes, it is a lack of knowledge or lack of caring or not wanting to put the time in.

If you are looking for a caring, supportive broker in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, please contact me.  I need more good, caring agents.

If you are struggling now, where will you be in 6 months?  Will you even be in the business?  You need to make some changes.  Get in a training program and turn things around for yourself while you can.  I train my agents 3-4 times a week and they love it because it is making a difference in their production.  It can make a difference for you too.  WHAT WILL THE LANDSCAPE LOOK LIKE 6 MONTHS FROM NOW?  Will your picture still be there?

Ricki - You have the right mindset and that's the reason you are successful.  I have seen brokers who only think about their bottom line and that's why they are not keeping their agents.  It has to have a give and take relationship.

I met a young man yesterday at the range who told me that he had just finished the real estate course and was planning to take the exam to be licensed in a couple of weeks.

All I could think was, WOW, that takes confidence.  He has several agents in his family and they have encouraged him.

Not a great time to join the real estate industry, but with spousal support, who knows???  He just might make it.

Ricki,

Who could doubt that you would be a success?

A new agent would be lucky to hook up with you early in their career.

My prep class yesterday had 32 students so close to getting their license.  When they ask me about what to look for in a broker, my answer is a place where you will get good training and support.

Thanks Dale,  I know the best inspector in New Hampshire is you!  That's a real compliment.  HAve a good one!

Thanks John,  They deserve it too.  The brokers set the standard for their offices.

Hi Trey,  After 32 years, there have been a few storms :)  You & I both can testify of that :)

Hi Lenn,   It takes courage but with his family support, he can do it.  It's not for everyone and unfortunately, so many people have thought they could do it because they really did not understand what was involved and the committment it takes to be successful.

Hi Richard,  Any of those 32 looking for a nice, quiet and beautiful place to live like the Texas Hill Country?  Sure could use some new blood in these parts! :)
