Google This AddressWith every listing we post in the front yard of our client's home, "Google This Address." It is the least we can do for them. We do much more than "Google This Address" for our Kennewick homes clients, but we continue to be amazed that no one else gets this small but effective marketing point.

Flyers Kinda Suck
We do not do the flyer box thing. Why? Because we have a "Google This Address" sign in every listing we have. Yup, and we know it works because our analytics show the traffic to the web pages/blog entries we post for our clients. Plus, how unprofessional is it to have an empty flyer box! Yikes!

A Listing Presentation Selling Point
When Colleen and I (nope, no assistants in our business model) show up to do a listing presentation, we let the client know about the "Google This Address" strategy (among many other marketing strategies). Not only are folks not doing this, but if they were, they are not organized enough, or technology adept to show a client the stats behind the strategy.

Rental Properties
Works for rental properties as well. We post a "Google This Address" for our rental properties. Sure, Google, "1506 Judson Avenue, Richland WA" and you'll see our recent rental in Google search action!

Well ActiveRain community, are you doing the "Google This Address?"

For what it is worth, Google has much more to worry about than "Google This Address" if trade mark infringements are an issue.

@Renee Burrows,

If you are not actively optimizing the address of your listings, than others will sell your home.  Why not be a dual agent and represent both sides?  When we are a dual agent we increase our income, but reduce the commission the seller has to pay.  Just sayin.  :)

I like your "Google this address" scenario. Besides the flyer boxes often being empty, sometimes they became empty by little urchins taking them out of your box and throwing them all over the neighborhood. With your name all over them!

Also if you need to make changes, you can just go online. The sign still says "Google this address".

Cool

And you forgot to mention that it is a"Green" idea!  You are saving paper and the environment by not printing flyers, not using environmentally toxic ink, and you are reusing the signs.  Great idea!  I've always told my clients to google their address, but the sign is an awesome idea.  Great post!

Sounds all good and everything, but in SC, we have broker resoprocity, so therefore, any agent can show up representing my listings.  I think its better to advertise "GOOGLE ME" !!

Very interesting idea.  I'll have to think about how we can search and reapply for our business (we aren't realtors but do work in a lot of homes).

I do something similar The Main Reason to Blog...Get My Listings SOLD!  when a potential listing calls with a suggestion to: Just google any of my listings.

Great use of signage.

You can effectively optimize your listings and the indexable idx will still catch up with you (if it is in your market).  Here is an example of a fellow rainer who goes well beyond the duty of call when it comes to advertising her team listings and two indexable IDX's have made it to page 1.

Love the idea!  You might not remember a real estate agents website, but everybody knows Google!

As most everyone else has already stated... This is a fantastic idea!  A seller is not concerned with us marketing ourselves - They're concerned with selling their property.  They're not usually worried about who sells it, but getting it to closing.  I'll bring this up in my team meeting tomorrow morning and see what kind of feedback I get.  Thanks for throwing it out there!

Your idea is truly genius. A simple idea that makes you stop and say, "Why didn't I think of that?".

The best part is that most people can do this right as they stand there with their smart phone.

I Like the idea, though I think that it is flawed for two reasons. I will start by saying you set yourself apart, so for that it is effective in listing. As far as google this address from the user. A flyer is something they can take and is effortless. They can look up the tour or visit your website whent hey get home. With your sign. They have to find something to wrtie down the address. By asking them to go through this when they were just driving by, you make them ask if they are really interested in this home.

Flyers are great because they put my marketing in the hand of the buyer. If I ask 10 buyers if they want a flyer or to wait until they get home and google something, they would pick flyer. Agents don't do them because of laziness and cost. I do them because I tell my sellers that I actually service my listings.

The second problem with google this address is you have added more steps for them to actually contact you and their interest may dwindle by the time they get home. If you are using this for lead generation, it is probably not effective. I think it is good for hits if people will do it, but it seems to cumbersome on the end user to me.

That's awesome!  I always tell my seller clients that I want their home to be at the top of the Google search results when potential buyers search for their street, address or even neighborhood.  For 2011, I am going to test out your sign idea as well as the new QR Codes / Vyoo.it.

Not having to print 1001 flyers, will save lots of $$$!
