Thankful Thursday - Having others to be thankful in us...

Thankful

I was sitting at my desk this morning, and one of our AWESOME agents came in and said thanks to me...  I leaned back at my desk, and smiled.  When I smiled, she smiled back at me...  I asked her why she was thanking me...  She said thanks to me for always smiling, and encouraging, and always being there with a helping hand...  I got up and gave her the biggest hug.  It really made me feel good!  We truly operate like a family here at my office.

Okay, back to my train of thought...

We think a lot about what we are thankful for in our lives.  OUR family, OUR spirituality, OUR path in life...  We think about others, but do we really think about the fact that what WE do can cause others to be thankful in US.  This can happen without us even knowing!

Can smiling cause others to be thankful in us?

Giving a helping hand?

Wishing success to others, even if they are our competition?

Encouraging others, when they are down?

Giving, with no expectation of something in return?

Having integrity, and telling the truth?

Taking blame, when it was truly your fault?

I would love to hear your stories about how you have uplifted others thought your actions... whether intentional or not...

Personal touches make all the difference in building relationships.  The spirit of comradery and honest concern run deep and remembered for years to come.  Thumbs up!

I like the way you think Chris!  I try and make it a point to acknowledge those that give great service to me as a customer either to that person or their supervisor, yes even if it's "just their job".

When I called the service supervisor at a car dealership recently to recognize one of their employees, I could hear her smiling on the other end of the phone, she said it made her day, which in turn made mine :)

You're so right Chris, It's amazing how doors will open and seas will part by using thank you and please. Kindness is contagious. It's just difficult being the person that has to start the chain reaction because more than likely you won't get it back anytime soon. You have a great philosophy. Keep up the good work! : )

As an office, we have started to "hand write" all of our holiday card addresses for our agents and our SOI...  about 400 cards...  So we started last week to be sure we are ready for the day after thanksgiving...  It is so amazing the response we get when they get 'em in the mail...  So I totally agree!  :)

Victor - My 3 year old says "thank you" and "please" in a sincere way...  Not just to get something...  I am trying to lead by example.  :)  Great comment!

Well, this isn't a story about how I've uplifted someone, but it is about you.  Every time I look at your profile photo I can't keep from smiling myself.  You look like the happiest person in the world and I'm always anxious to read your posts.  They're always full of positivity! Thanks...

A genuine smile can truly make someone's day!  I just posted about the power of a handwritten note and I always feel better when I take one of those out and remember helping someone.  At the end of a long day, I know that your blog will be fun to read and it will make me smile.  So thank you Chris!  Keep smiling!  Karen

Chris, my story is I was told I am a good listener, and share my experience of how I handled same or similar situations like theirs.  Somehow, my friends told me it always makes them feel real good after talking to me.  I guess just being there is what I am "good at".  What I like about you is you are very genuine and it shows through your post, you are real funny, that's what make me smile and chuckle when I read your post.  It is your gift!

Rita - Being a good listener is a gift that not many of us have.  Many of us like to just hear ourselves talk, and if it was ok to not have to have the other person talk, I bet they could talk for hours...

Being good at "that" is awesome!

And THANK YOU for your so kind words.  I find myself giggling and smiling as I write posts. I enjoy sharing, and seem to have an endless about up in my noggin, just begging to be the next post!

Have a great evening!

Great post Chris! ;) I just smile at everyone, it's an easy and virtually foolproof way to make someone's day brighter. (Disclaimer: It also occasionally will get you hit on by somewhat scary biker dudes, forcing you to lie like a rug and pretend to still be in high school, because you know that they don't care/believe that you are married. . . .  But for the most part it works well!) ;)

Good morning girl!
