Every Saturday, my wife and I try and go to lunch at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course.  They have a great kitchen and we sit on the lanai watching the golfers finishing up on the ninth hole.  Even on a day like today when the outside temperature is 90 degrees, it is very comfortable sitting outside in the shade with the trade winds blowing.

As she was having lunch, and I was having a glass of wine (I still cannot eat anything and hopefully my next operation will resolve that) we looked up and saw our first Golden Plover!  The Golden Plover is a migratory bird.  In the spring they leave for Alaska and in the fall they return to the Islands. When they leave in the spring they are all plumped up for their long open ocean flight and when they return they are so skinny after thier long trip.  A sure sign that winter is coming.  The next critters to show up will be the whales!  I thank the Lord every day for allowing me to live in this most beautiful and wondrous place.

Good Luck, Good Lending and Aloha

Bruce: Sounds as if you so enjoy where you live. We have never been to HAWAII but enjoy all the travel shows about your beautiful state that we watch on cable. We feel the same way about where we live and the wildlife. We usually sit out every evening even if only for a few minutes; we love being outside.

I guess this is what we do at this age. When we were younger we didn't have time to enjoy what is right at our back door.

Keep enjoying and take care of yourself.

What a great picture you just described for us, the Lord is truly good in allowing us to enjoy of His creation!  We're planning family trip to Hawaii next year and can't wait.  Last time we were there was in 2002 for our honeymoon in Maui!  Oh I love reminiscing about Hawaii.

Ahhhh, Bruce, I love Hawaii!  I've been there twice, both times to Maui -- once in January and once in February.  I got to see the whales both times!  What a beautiful creature they are!  Hmmm, maybe I can go to Hawaii for my honeymoon!?  I'll have to think about that.

Bruce

That sound nice, wish I could join you! When winter is about to start hear we have the geese, it is amazing watching them. They always have a guy who seems to be lagging behind and one way out front making sounds as if come on you guys catch up.

Bruce, the three times we visited Hawaii it was in the summer.  It was beautiful but I bet your winters there are not bad either.  How cold does it get there in the winter season?

Bruce-I am not a bird person but Tonya sure is.  I will have to ask her if she knows about that.  "Winter in Hawaii".....just the thought of that makes me say "Huh????"  So does "summertime in Hawaii!"  Aloha and hope you had a nice lunch.  Is the food good over there?  I could walk to the clubhouse and restaurant from my house but I have never eaten there.  Your recommendation on a choice from the menu?

Sounds a million times better than the signs of winter here in NY. We have a 4pm sundown, foggy breath, a subzero morning tempertaures, nothing like what you describe. Enjoy the whale watching (something I hope to do one day soon).

thanks Bruce.  What a beautiful sight.   It's funny but I've been feeling "fall" this week myself.  It's 106 degrees but somehow in the evening it just feels like summer is over.

It says alot about you that you are able to notice gods wonders at what must be a very trying time.

I am pleased to see that you take the time to savor the little things that surround us.  Most of us are so busy running that we fail to see simple beauty that is right before our eyes.  Thanks for reminding us to  slow down and enjoy the gifts of creation that surround us.  Take care.

we have two signs.

the temperature drops to the low 90's maybe even the high 80's.

the infamous "snowbird" arrives. there not as pretty as your birds and they are still plump from flying (airlies of course)

they do return though because it is also incredibly beautiful here.

Yolanda-- Of course we have a winter!  On the Big Island on top of Mauna Kea they actually ski!  Here on Oahu it will get into the low 60's at night and high 70's in the day time.  The kids go to school with hooded sweatshirts in the winter.  Aloha

David -- The food at the Prince is great.  When I could eat my favorite is the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich.  Linda loves the Terri Burger.  It is like having a country club membership for free.  The view from the lanai is of course and the Koolaus and down town.  It is great and thats why we try and go every Saturday.  Aloha

Vincent -- We are blessed to live in this beautiful place.  The Whales show up in November and are here until late April.  Do come out and watch them as they are just magnificent.  Aloha

Kate -- We live in such a bueatriful place that it is impossible NOT to see God's work.  Aloha

Darrell--Thanks for your comments.  Aloha

Jay -- I have only been to Florida to go on cruises, but what I saw was really beautiful too.  Aloha

Laurie -- I have earned living here as I have lived in some very tough places.  You do have to enjoy where you are,  It is just easier to enjoy here.  Aloha

Good Morning Bruce,
Sounds like a perfect Saturday morning--minus the food for you.  We have faith that's coming soon.

My parents visited Hawaii a couple of years ago and had a marvelous time.  They really took advantage and saw and did a lot while there.

Hi Debi -- You have obviously been here before.  The beach we go to has green sea turtles on it every time we are there.  Don't you just love the smell of Hawaii when they crack the door open on the air plane after you land.  Aloha
