In and Around Birmingham This Weekend: The Art Walk (Downtown Birmingham)

Since the arrival of September the mornings and evenings are cooler and the days are much milder.  Those are the very ingredients that make for a pleasant stroll.  But there's one more very good reason to take that stroll this weekend:  The Art Walk 2010.

The Art Walk is a much anticipated event.  All types of artists get to showcase their talents and wares.  Approximately 100 artist will be on hand including visual artists, live musicians and street performers and topped off with food and drink vendors, and children's activities.

Downtown Businesses Contribute to the Success
Every major city should have a City Center that aids in helping the community to thrive and the ground level businesses that are located in downtown Birmingham play a major role in the Art Walk. Every year these businesses open up there doors to the participating artists and allow them to set up shop in their ground level storefronts.  How cool is that?  These ground level businesses simply lay out the welcome mat and sling the doors wide open as a way of contributing to the success of the Art Walk.  Some of the participating host include:

Waldrep, Stewart & Kendrick, LLC, Attorneys at Law

Rogue Tavern, Birmingham hot spot

Alabama Literacy Council

Print and Prep For the Walk
You can get the map of the route on the Official Art Walk 2010 website. A very cool pdf version of the map is available for you to print out and plan your route.

Check it out or contact the The Art Walk 2010.  Birmingham Alabama starting Friday, September 10, 2010 and Saturday, September 11, 2011.

Charita:  Being a past Chamber president, I love this stuff.  Great "community" builders from every angle.  Good for business.  Good for families.  Good for the town itself.  Good for the individual.  Hope you have a great time ...

And ... I'll buy a round at the Rogue Tavern!  What a great name!  lol

Great "community" builders:  Gene where would we be without that?  This will be my first year going, but I am so looking forward to it.  If you keep hearing mugs clicking in your ears, that's just me sending a toast your way.  Cheers!

Chris when you think about it, it is really fantastic.  You have all of these businesses from attorneys office, office furniture stores, pubs, etc and they all open up their businesses and let the artist display their work.

Great concept to get people in the door.  They come for the art and you have the opportunity to get them to stay to learn about your business.

Jim and Linda I actually think this time of year is the best time of year for art fairs (especially if being outdoors is involved).

This is fun, I wish I could have attended.  I have some wonderful memories of art shows at the Botanical Gardens when I was a kid....we lived nearby and would walk over and hang out all day.

Ann I got swamped with work so I did not make it.  My cousin works at one of the downtown host businesses and she said it was really nice.
