Madison Alabama Pet Adoptions No Kill Non-Profit Animal Rescue 35758
I've had pets in the past as I know many of you have or do and you know the unconditional love and companionship they provide. It really kills me to see animals neglected in what ever form. Not properly cared for, abused or abandoned because the owner couldn't afford them or couldn't take the family pet with when their home was foreclosed on.
Earlier today I had to stop by the Madison Alabama Post Office to post a few items that should have gone out a couple of days ago and the last thing on my mind was pet adoption especially when entering the post office.
I did not adopt a pet partly because they didn't have any available Dalmatians and partly because it's not fair to the dog that I spend so little time at home, but I did make a donation to Jane's No-Kill Non-Profit animal Rescue/Placement Organization. We talked for a moment then I went on my way. It took me the thirty steps or so to my car to realize that I could do a little more than just put money in a pot with little more thought. So, I grabbed my camera from the car and went back to talk to Jane and ask her permission to do a blog post about her rescue shelter.
It turns out that there is no actual shelter, but rather a support system of foster care givers keeping the adoptable pets in their own homes until new families are found for the dogs and cats.
The rescued animals are neutered and spayed, given proper shots and checked for worms, rabies, leukemia, feline AIDS etc....in short well taken care of and ready to be adopted. Often the vet bills are more than the adoption fee of $100. Jane currently has 9 kittens ready for adoption living with her and her husband. Jane used to show dogs and has been involved with pet rescue for the last 20 years.
Unless the post office wouldn't allow the pets to be on site, I think it was a mistake not to have them there...after all some of these little guys are pretty cute.
