One of Dawsonville, Georgia's greatest treasures is undoubtedly Amicalola Falls and river.  Amicalola is a Cherokee Indian word meaning "tumbling waters," and this view is truly spectacular.  This 729 waterfall is the highest falls east of the Mississippi River and quite a sight to see!

Amicalola State park offers a great playground, fishing area and picnic tables. The 8.5-mile walking trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, on the Appalachian Trail.  My family loves to spend the day at this truly unique park and with the location close to Burts Pumpkin Farm; we'll be planning a hike up the falls soon!

The Len Foote Hike Inn at Amicalola Falls State Park is known for breath taking views of the falls and surrounding mountains.  An excellent Sunday brunch buffet is always a treat at the Maple Restaurant.

With fall colors coming, Amicalola Park and river makes for a perfect way to spend a fall day!
