Today is a day of remembrance of tragedy and death as our country was attacked like never before in our history. Most of the time the focus is placed on the folks who lost their lives in the Twin Towers of New York as the towers were a landmark and so visible. Devastating is an understatement and we all watched frozen in time as Heroes emerged from the wreckage to help their fellow man from Police officers, Firemen,Rescue workers to the average Joe doing everything possible to help in a time of need.
May we not forget those who lost their lives in the crash at our Pentagon. Those fellow Americans, whether in that plane or on the ground, had no idea death was only minutes away. Did they remember to tell their loved ones of their love that fateful morning as they left home to begin their day? I hope so as I will never forget that they did not return home to their families nor will they ever.
Let us remember the heroes of flight 93 and the lives they saved as they gave up their own. Average Americans who found out about the crash into the Twin Towers and determined that a similar fate awaited them and decided to do something about it. Whether they were able to breech the cockpit of that airplane is open to debate but one thing is known and that is the fact they put fear into four cowards and caused them to crash the plane in a field in Pennsylvania without reaching their intended target where more lives would have been lost.
May we remember the families of our fellow Americans. Husbands and wives who still suffer today from the loss of their spouse. Children who lost a parent who has not held them in 9 years. Parents, brothers and sisters who never got to say I Love You just one more time. Pain that will last a lifetime.
May we remember the Families who have lost loved ones fighting bastards just like the cowards who attacked our Great land. Whether you agree or not as to how we have gone about this remember our troops are courageously and unselfishly fighting for your freedom and mine. Our troops have families who are scared and worried about their loved ones who are in harms way as a result of 9/11/2001.
This cowardly tragic event has resulted in much pain and loss across the United States of America. May we never forget.
Do you remember how we the people of the U.S.A. were a little kinder to each other in the days that followed this tragedy? Let us all remember that we united as a nation and a people.
My Prayer is we will not forget.
