Did You Remember?  Then Remember This!

Yesterday being September 11th you could find any number of posts in memory of September 11th, 2001, including ours.

Like many we were watching "Good Morning America" when the first plane hit and were glued to the TV as the events unraveled.  The world should never forget this tragedy, it has changed the world forever.

This morning we were playing around on Youtube and came across the video below.  George Jones put to music another event that we should also never forget.  Take the time to listen, listen very carefully and make sure to see the statistics at the end of the video.

It's not hard to remember the events, but do we remember those involved in the events.

Do your part.

Thank you for sharing this with us. We will never forget these tragic events, and more importantly should never forget the men and woman who give their lives and fight for our freedom. This reminds us, we need to be there for them when they return back home. It is sad to hear how many of these men and women are left homeless and without support when they return home.

I do remember and remember all too well. One of them is living with us and he’s as angry, bitter and honoree with the same vices and attitude as the one in the music video. Theirs is a group of lost and forgotten that we should never forget. Thanks for the reminder.

We waste a lot more than money on senseless military conflicts.  Viet Nam was the worst.  Conscripted kids, paid a fifth of the wages of any other entry-level government employees, forced into a situation that most were not mature enough to handle.  Some lost their lives, some lost their minds.  The more fortunate lost nothing but some of the potentially best years of their lives.

I met a guy in 1972 who got filthy rich when he converted his small storm door closer manufacturing business into a shell casing factory.  For some, war is good.

Al & Peggy that was pretty intense, another interesting time in our history. Seems we are always embroiled in some sort of conflict, it happens across the globe from mans beginning to today...great video

Al and Peggy,

This is certainly a national tragedy that we can't seem to discuss. Soldiers of that era were treated pretty badly...and it hasn't changed much.

Now I know why I like country music... the deep meaning behind the words. Thanks for the video.

Laura, you are right, we have to show our respect when they come home. We always try and thank anyone in the 'forces' when we see them.

That is so sad Suesan, please tell him how thankful we are for people like him who fought for our freedom.

We have heard that Mike, that war is actually 'big business'!

It was intense Gerry, but it is sad that the lives of so many, are affected like this.

It is pretty sad Rich, just like you said that we can't even discuss it.

Your welcome Ellen. Country music does bring the message home.

Exactly Roger, prayers because they sacrificed so much more than we will ever know.
