Updating your design doesn't have to be expensive.  You can re-purpose old items to change and update them.

In this case it only took spray paint.  I had an traditional wooden pedestal table that I wanted to lighten up and use in a modern house I Staged in Hermosa Beach, CA.

I spray painted it silver for an instant lift.  You can spray paint almost anything- I've painted mirror frames, crown molding, patio benches, and even a fireplace mantle.  I'd love to see your pictures of spray painted transformations.

Very interesting Gina.  I have two similar tables and I have considered doing the same since I've seen that silver version so many times on HGTV programs.  However since none of my projects are ever modern or contemporary I think I have to stick with just black.  Love spray paint!

Isn't spray paint GREAT......and makes the change so easy.  I have some iron side tables...got at IKEA for $20 several years ago in a brownish color.  They were sprayed white a year ago....and look great.  Now I'm going to spray 1 Orange....FUN!

Gina - Love the sexy new look of that silver table.  It went from dowdy granny to Barbarella!  Wow!

Gina -- that's a super idea!  Thanks for reminding us that a can of silver spray paint can work wonders.  That table looks terrific now!

Gina- love the table.   We forget that there are inexpensive pieces of furniture out there right under our noses.  All we have to do is find them, add some imagination and a can of paint!

Gina, very green! I repurpose items all the time. Spray paint is such an easy and inexpensive way to achieve up-to-date looks. Love it and love your table!

What a great example of repurposing an otherwise ordinary pedastal side table into an appropriate piece between two barcelonas.  Bravo.  I can't tell you how many pieces I've spray painted over the years (usually black) in order to revive them back into a purposeful existence!

I have a couple of these in storage, hadn't thought of painting silver, love that idea...Thanks!  I'm also about to take on a couple of houses with major bookshelves and am toying with the idea of covering the books, I love that look too!
