Thank you all for coming to Tristan's birthday party yesterday at the Wellington Pool. We had a lot of fun and the boys, well, the boys were boys- having a blast! And a special thanks for you parents who stuck it out with us through the rain and thunder!

As is expected here in South Florida, afternoon thunderstorms paid us a visit even though it was supposed to be a clear day.
We set up the birthday party under a tent that the Wellington Pool has for their eating area. There is no food or drinks allowed anywhere on the pool deck.
It was hot. By the time Milet and I had set everything up; we were so hot. I think the heat index was 107. Nestor was over at the baseball fields with Tristan because it was his first fall Little League practice with his new team.
As soon as Nestor and our son arrived, the rest of the boys invited to the party were at the pool and they made NO hesitation about jumping right in and so they all headed over to the popular diving board.
Not more than 20 minutes went by before the parents and I felt a sprinkling mist. We kept saying, the pool is not going to close! We thought we were OK under the tent, but the tent was not water proof and soon we were drenching in rain. I wondered why would the city put up a cover where people eat that is not rain proof. Odd.
A few moments later the sound of the dreaded lightning warning horn went off! OH NO! We here in South Florida ALL know what that means. The announcement came that all the people in the pool must seek shelter and the pool was now closed!
Thanks to all the wonderful moms and two dads- you guys were great! You all helped me pick up all the pizza, cupcakes, chips, drinks, gifts, etc covered them all up and went with Nestor over to the Pavilion down here on Wellington Lake so we could keep the birds and the ducks company while the thunder and lightning finished their dance.
It was actually a good thing because now we had the boys attention and could sing Happy Birthday, have pizza and cupcakes. They had no choice! We brought out the water guns and they filled them up with the water in the rain gutters as it came pouring out. It lasted almost an hour.
When the pool reopened the boys rushed back to the big slide and the diving board. The best part the boys came running back to their moms was, "We have the WHOLE pool ALL to ourselves!" And they sure did. Everyone else, when the storm came all left and went home and did not come back.
