MountVermont Interstate 91 and the Connecticut River, Vermont is the Green Mount State! The Connecticut River cuts a wide swath between the States of Vermont and New Hampshire, at least in this here area, as thought to be underscoring the differences between these two States. Beside it, and in sight of the Connecticut River for much of its route, run, Interstate 91 which runs North and South, high along a shoulder of the hills that rise on the river's western bank.

The views sure are among the very best from any interstate highway in our Country, which runs over rich fertlie farmlands, this wide winding Connecticut River with its oxbows and tributary streams, and the breath taking scenery of the hills and mountains of New Hampshire across this mighty fine river, are like the painted pictures at the back of a stage. Its New England scenery at its very best at any time of the year, and it sure is a spectacular panorama in the fall.

Farm Land Community

Vermont Interstate 91 and the Connecticut River, Vermont's route 5 also parallels the Connecticut River, often weaving back and forth across the straighter interstate, and passing through some of the most fertile farmland you''ll ever find in all of New England as it strings together the Towms from Brattleboro to Newbury, Vermont and beyond to an area that you may not of heard about, the Northeast Kingdom.

The early esttlers of this area would homestead along the Connecticut River in order so they could easily receive supplies from their previous homes back in Connecticut and Massachusetts. They weren't dissuaded by the countless bends in the river that are especially common between Thetford and Newbury. In fact, Bradford's High School is called Oxbow.

Vermont Interstate 91 and the Connecticut River, in some Towns in the Upper Valley, the Towns that fall between Springfield and Newbury, the line between Vermont and New Hampshire across the Connrcticut River, are not a toll call, there are ample bridges for the residents of either side to travel from one side to the other.

Since the area is touted as a region and not really two different States, the line can get even fuzzier. In fact, the Norwich, Vermont/Hanover, New Hampshire School
district is the only multistate local School district in our Country.
