Help At Last for the Over 35 Group!!! Never Spend Hours in the Celler or Closet Again!!!

Real Estate Agent with Top Agents Atlanta Metro

Have you ever went into your closet or your cellar to look for a photo of vacation, someone's baby photo, a memorable day and spent literally hours going through the photos to find it and then avowed to get all the photos scanned someday. Real Estate House Girl Someday never gets here and it is a daunting task to scan all those photos and decide on names and put them on the disc.  Like everyone over 35 we have photos dating back decades of relatives, holidays, memories and family gatherings most hidden away and seldom viewed if not effectively forgotton.  Many of these photos were taken by parents, grandparents and loaded with  memories.

Well I was reading Barrons this morning and ran into the Gadget of the week.  Well there is a new company called ScanMyPhotos.com.  They will send you a large box and you fill it with all the old pictures you can fit in (usually around 2,000 per box)  They will conveniently scan all the photos and organize them on a disc and send them back to you in a day or two for only $150 per box.  Amazing new service.  I am packing mine up right now!!!!  This is a very cost effective great service.  Why didn't I think of this!!!!

This might be good for someone with 1000's of pictures and no scanner, but for me, $150 would be more than I'd be willing to spend for this service. Plus, their ToS say that, if your pictures are lost or damaged, they are not responsible. Not sure I'd take that chance with irreplacable pictures, even if they say it's unlikely anything will happen. Let us know how your pictures turn out!

Mary, thanks for the tip.  I do have many print pictures with negatives (can you believe it?).  I am so glad the digital camera was invented.

Thanks Pat & Wayne.  I have a scanner, I just don't have the time to do all the scanning and from the comments I saw in Barrons, the quality is great.  I like to do what I do best and have some time off.  $150 seemed inexpensive to me for the service.

Would be worried about loss in the shipping and for us $150 sounds expensive -- but for some this may be a great service. All the best.

Hi, I'm Bryan from ScanMyPhotos.  Just thought I would stop in to see if there were any questions I could answer?  One thing I do want to address is the shipping concern that people seem to have.  Yes, you run a risk when you ship anything, however, you by not scanning your photos, you run the risk of damaging them by not doing anything.  Flood, fire, earthquake, even just old age will destroy your photos and they are then lost forever.  We encourage everyone to scan their photos, by whatever means necessary.  If you are concerned specifically with using the USPS, we also offer a service that is $64 per 1,000 photos.  You simply print out the order form on our site and you can then ship your photos to us however you wish.  Some people are more comfortable with FedEx or UPS and that is ok.  Also know that all scanning orders are completed the same day so your photos are out of your hands for the least amount of time as possible.  Just things to think about, but I'm here to answer any questions, if there are any.

My granddaughter (16 yrs) has scanned mine in.. I pay her. Keeps it in the family and she gets acquainted with all of the old photos while scanning. Gives us a connection that goes beyond today.

For those that need it and believe it's cost effective, sounds good.

Benjamins, Thanks for the feedback, when I think about the hours it would take to scan in all those photos and my value as an agent selling houses, it seems like a deal to me.

Bryan, Thanks for dropping in and commenting.  I love the idea of your service and hope your company does well, I read about you in Barrons this weekend.

Judi, Grandkids are great if they have the time to do something like this.  Mine seem very busy with everything and since I am 62, I have boxes and boxes of photos.
