HER Real Living SignReal Living has a blog.  The blog has an entry yesterday that Real Living has an entry in Wikipedia...Wikipedia is so web 2.0   Wikipedia's Real Living encyclopedia entry

Of course Coldwell Banker has an encyclopedia entry in Wikipedia but local Coldwell Banker King Thompson doesn't have a Wikipedia encyclopedia entry yet.  Re/Max Intl has a Wikipedia entry, I don't even want to try to look up all the Central Ohio Re/Max offices.  Century 21 has an encyclopedia article on WikipediaERA has one too.

Keller Williams has an encyclopedia entry in Wikipedia! No that's the musician.  Actually by searching Keller Williams Realty on Wikipedia I was able to find an encyclopedia entry about Keller Williams Realty.  At the top it says:

"To meet Wikipedia's quality standards and comply with our neutral point of view policy, this article or section may require cleanup. The current version of the article or sectionreads more like an advertisement than an encyclopedic article."

Quality statndards? Look at a lot of what is in Wikipedia about real estate... the bubble bloggers..have hijacked...  oh well... There are 26 US real estate companies with encyclopedia entries on Wikipedia, today including GMAC, Windemere, Brio!  I did not go to see if any other real estate company entries on Wikipedia  were not written as "encyclopedic articles."

Back to Real Living.  Real Living has videos on YouTube .... how web 2.0

Maureen,

Here I thought that "real living" was a magazine kinda like Martha Stewart. Or, isn't there a Simple Living magazine?

I guess when we choose company names we really need to be careful.

There is a magazine...  shoot I used to get it... Simple sounds so Simple..minded......  maybe it is Simple Living.  I used to get the magazine..  What is that name? Beautiful photography...

Not what you'd choose for a company name?  I think it has done well for Real Living in the short time it has been around but maybe they could have done something better...I think we'll stick with it though...

If you look at the Real Living website (and to a lesser degree at least the HER Real Living website)  in the Wayback machine if  the photos work, it will remind you of a magazine as well.  Gee what a novel idea... using photography, design and information to lure consumers in.  Looking different than everyone else... how novel!

I was surprised awhile back when I wrote my "Wikipedia and Real Estate" entry to find that there was mostly minimal information written about some of the major companies and some don't even have an entry on Wikipedia.  Glad to know that "Real Living now has a definition." :-) Those were the words used on Real Living's blog (which is nice, BTW)!

... but Wikipedia  is an encyclopedia not a dictionary.  It has encyclopedic articles not definitions....   it was a cute way to write it though... Wictionary (?) is definitions.

I read something about companies not wanting entry in Wikipedia... somewhere... good to see you Leanne!!

Ok I read about Keller Willaims (the singer, he sounds cool), and I read some of the listed companies info on Wikipedia, and now I read Leanne's embed on why some don't want to be there! Maureen I always need a cup of coffee to properly read your blog!  Vey cool, I have no idea how you find this stuff!  PS: When I first met you, I was only familiar with Real Living. I asked my manager if HerLiving was run by women!  He got a real chuckle out of that and explained the story to me!

The idea that HER REALTORS® (that's what we were before we became HER Real Living in 2002) is all women, is not uncommen outside Central Ohio.  In town you see men's names on signs etc.

It is pronounced H.E.R. too. You can tell when people are from out of town because they say "Her."

Yes, out of town, that would be me!  BTW, how do you pronounce Cuyahoga? A lot of native Clevelanders pronounce it like the pig (hog) and I give it a long 'O' sound, and get some flak for it. In any event, it was fun looking up the HER Real Living Info on the web once my manager told me what was what.

I guess you'd know I was from out of town, too.  I've always read it as "Her".

Carole: I lived in Akron so I can pronounce Cuyahoga... or at least I think I can.

Leanne:  Out of towners mispronouncing can be a good thing...

Your company is very progressive.  That should help all of the agents.  We have a new tech team that seems to be pushing things in the right direction, but no corporate blog or youtube for us yet.

This all started so long ago before there was a Real Living.   I think I remember Harley E. Rouda Jr. talking about the internet shortly after I joined the company in 1995...maybe it was 1996... how we were going to be advertising on the internet. I thought "huh?"
