Zoey the cool cat always has good suggestions for ActiveRain members. We should present Zoey with an honorary membership. It is difficult to keep up with all of the ways to earn points.

Zoey the Cool Cat's
Top 11 ways to get ActiveRain points

Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needsI get a kick out of people who only do the minimum in life and business, and then complain about someone else who does more than the minimum. If you're just going to do the minimum, don't be surprised when someone passes you by, gets a greater market share, buys a bigger house or a faster car.... I'm just saying.

A certain person in my household is somewhat AR, and you have to trust me when I say that AR does not stand for ActiveRain. He specializes in deconstructing things to see how they work, and then putting them back together to make them work better for himself and his Clients.

For those ActiveRain newbies and middies who are after points (oldies don't need more points! LOL), here are some ways to get MORE than the minimum number of points each week, although first you should realize that there is no minimum number of points each week, and with all the ActiveRain bonuses and contests, I'm not sure there's a maximum, either.

  1. Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needsMaximize your profile — I'm not sure what the maximum number of points for your profile is, but if you only have a few hundred, or even a couple of thousand, you can probably get more. That means upload a high-definition picture, complete the contact information, and include lots of testimonials.
  2. Be sure you leave at least ten comments a day — Each comment you leave, up to 10 each day, gets you 25 points per comment. However, if you really like points, go all out and leave 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, or more comments each day (this AR guy whom most of you know has a personal best of 313 comments in one day and a second best of 185. My bests are 106 and 67). Why do more than the minimum? Because wherever you leave comments, those people will return to your blog and leave comments, and.....
  3. Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needsPeople who leave comments in your blog earn you 4 points per comment, with a couple of caveats: (1) You won't get any points for the first two comments, but when that third comment shows up, you'll get 12 points, four for each of the three comments. (2) Once you get 25 comments from other people, or 100 points, the rest of the comments get you no points. I like this because it allows newbies at least a fighting chance to catch up with the oldies who get featured posts each week and hundreds of comments on those featured posts.
  4. Be sure you publish at least 10 posts in your blog each week. If you use the ActiveRain channels, each post gets you 225 points, or 2,250 points each week. Many people consider this a maximum because you will not get any automatic 225 points for any posts over 10 in any week. Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needs(Note that the ActiveRain week runs from Monday at 12:00:01 a.m. to Sunday at 11:59:59 p.m.) The problem with the thinking here is that it is not a maximum. You can publish as many posts in your blog each week as you want to. The key here is that if you do, and you go above and beyond in leaving comments (see #2), then those people will have lots to comment on when they come by your blog. Don't think those four points for comments add up? I can tell you they do.
  5. Do a lot of reading, and when you find a post that is useful to you and your Clients in your service area, re-blog it. You get 25 points for each re-blog, and from what I've been able to tell, you are allowed five re-blogs per day.
  6. Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needsInvite people to ActiveRain! You get 10% of whatever points they earn! My AR marketing guru currently has 155 invitees. That might be a record, but I can't find any list of those with the most invitees. Maybe ActiveRain should add that to the leaderboard. After all, it seems that invitees would be more valuable to ActiveRain than the number of featured posts that any person has.
  7. Mentor your invitees! My AR marketing guru spends a lot of time mentoring the people he has invited. If he sees that they haven't blogged in a month or so, he'll leave a message in their blog that says this: "Hey, [name]. I see this is your most recent post. Hope all is well with you and yours, that you're really busy, but that you'll be back soon to Play in the Rain with us. Take advantage of that love affair between Google and your ActiveRain blog! Let me know if I can help you with anything."
  8. Call Jim Frimmer for all your San Diego County real estate needsParticipate in challenges and contests. This means that you have to watch the Featured Posts to see what challenges and contests come along. Winners often get 5,000 points, with second and third places getting 2,500 and 1,000 points, respectively. If you simply enter the contests, you usually get 500 points. Currently there is a 30 blogs in 30 days challenge, and I'll finish up my 30/30 on September 14. I'm looking forward to my 5,000 points!
  9. Help ActiveRain members and make suggestions to improve ActiveRain. If the Staff sees you reaching out to members regularly, or they implement a suggestion, they often will award you bonus points. In some cases, they might even hire you!
  10. If you have an ActiveRain success story, tell it to ActiveRain. Go edit your profile, and at the very bottom of your screen is a section for your success story. Your very first success story gets you 500 points!
  11. Bribe an ActiveRain staff member! (JK)

Wow- What a smart cat!  Roy, can you get a cat like Zoey from a shelter or is she some rare breed?

Clever post, and I am going to re-bog.  This really clarifies alot about the point system.  Thanks!
