It has been 2 years today, since Hurricane Ike paid a visit to the Texas Gulf Coast.  Would it be enough to say that life has never been the same?  My husband and I moved to a small waterfront community just west of Galveston Island in 2004.  It seemed perfect.  Our boat parked in the front yard(The waterside is your front yard here) ready for take-off whenever the fishing is right.  Enjoying our neighbors and the salt water and knowing we are blessed!

 I became a REALTOR just a few years later and knew I wanted to help others find a wonderful home like we had found. I began working at the local Real Estate office and cutting my baby teeth with the help of my Broker and the other two agents in the office. 

I  I had made the decision to stop practicing nursing and start practicing Real Estate full time. I had no idea how my life was fixin' (that is southern talk) to change.  In 2006 my Broker decided it was time for her to retire and she sold the Brokerage to her friend and in house Agent.  After one year she decided that owning an office and managing Agents was not her calling.  By now we had all become very close, like a family, and didn't want to separate.

My husband & I decided to buy the Brokerage, and keep the small and intimate group together.  That was August 29, 2008.

On September 11, 2008 I was packing up my home & my new little office and planning a quick get away before the waters of Ike approached. It seems difficult to think that was two years ago today.  The waters have passed, the office survived, but not withstanding damages, though NOT physical.
