Fall Is In the Air…Unstoppable Woman! – Day 19
Fall is definitely on the way here in Maine. While I love summer (and HEAT…yes, I like heat…) I have always felt a kind of kinship with autumn. I used to think it was because I was born in the fall. I enjoy the crisp air in the mornings. I like watching the animals scurry around, getting ready for winter. I especially love watching the trees change. I’ve lived in several states across the country and while many of them have seasonal changes, there is no where I have been that has as brilliant a fall season as northern New England.
The State of Maine posts a fall foliage report every year and the first report is due tomorrow, September 15. It is anticipated that the foliage will be good this year as we had a hot summer with good rainfall. The peak foliage week here in Central Maine is the second week in October. Northern Maine should peak the last week of September. Western, Southern, Mid-Coast and Downeast should all peak the second week of October.
For more information on when peak foliage is and some ideas on where to visit, check out www.MaineFoliage.com. They have a really cute animated video for kids called: "Maine's Autumn Magic: How Leaves Reveal Their Fall Colors." There ia also a link to fall foliage hikes in Maine's State Parks: Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.
If you have never visited Maine, maybe you should this fall. I bet you’ll like it so much you will want to stay!
